and
Waterloo Netherlands Correspondence: v. 2
were ever published ?

I have both and would recommend them highly. I am sure there is a third but, offhand cannot recall whose correspondence.

You'll surely also know of Gareth Glover's Waterloo Archive in 5 volumes. Bit steep if you buy them all at once, I just got each on release, which eased the pain!

I have volume one of both but, like Camcleod, have been eagerly awaiting the second volume of each.

Have these actually been published to date and does anyone have a link as to where they might be purchased, or is this perhaps part of the project to which John Franklin was referring on a recent thread?

Gentlemen, I thank you for your interest in these two titles. I can confirm that the books were produced (albeit only 500 copies of each title), and that the vast majority went to Amazon.co.uk. More than fifty copies of each were supplied to the Naval & Military Press, and some – which I delivered by hand – went to the National Army Museum in London. I have no idea whether the N&MP or the NAM have stock left. Amazon.co.uk, who also supplied the Amazon outlets in Europe (especially Germany) with copies, have no stock. They recently ordered more copies which are currently being printed. I believe they will be available in November. Amazon .com has ordered copies of the first two volumes, but has not ordered copies of volumes two.

P.S. I have written to each of you privately, so you will hopefully be able to obtain the material you require.

I simply cannot believe that these ran to only 500 copies each…….it must tell us something about the challenges of publishing anything these days.

I have had two books published (nothing remotely to do with 1815)and chapters in many a textbook, but surgical trainees and med students never buy paper books. Indeed, they never listen to a lecture any more. The girls drink from a water bottle non stop and all of them record the talk on their phone. Once they asked for hand outs, now they want the Powerpoint slides…….but do I complain? Why bother?

Today my Grateful Dead icon replaced my tax disc on my windscreen….US readers will need a translation. Windshield? Tax Disc? UK suddenly decided after 8 decades we do not need one!

Don't despair! With regards to the second volumes on the Netherlands and Hanoverian troops, there were a number of very good reasons why the production (which was originally scheduled for 2,000 copies per title) was reduced. All of the material contained therein will be available to those who are interested prior to June 2015.

P.S. I'm going to refrain from commenting further on TMP about the books I've written, as I do not wish to be accused (further) of self promotion.

Well it does not seem to worry too many others! and, I have to say, it does seem fairly harmless anyway. We need to know what is being released.

I do know that there is a trend to keep pushing something back to the top by, every few days, simply thanking folk for their comments. But we are surely able to spot that and ignore such. I treasure Vols 1 of Netherlands and Hanoverian Correspondence and simply could not work out why I did not get the Prussian one! Now I know….it never appeared!

What bother me is that Mr. Camcleod never return to said thanks for the answers.

I can see that many people in the forums did that.

Asking a question for help and then never return.

Mr Franklin sent me a private message about the books and I thanked him profusely for answering me direct and for other information he provided. He has other projects in the works that are very interesting.

I am never too sure about need to reply. I can see Tango's point but, if I did manage to contribute anything, it would not worry me too much if I got no further feedback.

There is a trend to keep forcing stuff back to the top of the list, with one line responses, that add nothing. If I put Waterford Light Cuirassiers of the Irish Imperial Guard onto the Gallery……it is nice to read "Excellent", "Far out man" and (especially) "cool" on three successive days, but is that any use to anyone else? On the fourth I will thank them all and I am back to the top yet again, for the fourth day in a row.

I do look forward to John Franklin's 2015 work. I might even reply "cool"……….naw! That was then…..

My dear friend, it's not the same to put a thread with a new work or figure as to write a question asking for help.

By courtesy and politeness if someone took the time and efford to respond to that request,it must be at least acknowledged.
