I waited for this to come out on video, and I am glad I did. We got the Redbox version last night, and my impression of it was much the same as Hellraiser II: half of the plot of this movie is on the cutting room floor. And why do we AGAIN have a teenage girl whose only function is to scrram until a tow truck is available?

But, let's focus on the postive! They kept the Autobots down to just five people (robots?) and even though I never did catch the name if the shiny green one, at least I had an idea of who each of them were and how they fit into the story with one another. Stanley Tucci was wonderful as always (has he done *anything* bad?) and while I am not a Matt Damon fanboy, I certainly think he carried the human side of the movie well enough. It was nice to see Optimus Prime as a snub-nosed tractor, just like the toy I had when I was young. That, to me, was the prize of the movie.

Oh, and Kelsey Grammer. He always makes things fun :-)

I wasn't aware that Damon was in the movie. I take it you meant Mark Wahlberg.

I've only seen the first movie and have no desire to see any of the follow-ups.

OMG I managed to confuse Matt Damon with Mark Wahlberg! I hang my head with shame and embarrassment.

But they ARE all starting to look the same…

Lololol was the human performance of Mark Wahlberg that forgettable that one could confuse him for being Matt Damon… thanks PR you made my night. I will avoid the video store for this one.

Bud of mine at work has the DVD of that.

When this movie was in development, they said that they were dropping Shia LaBeouf and many of the other stars because they wanted to do a more serious version of the movie.

Then the first trailer that they released showed Optimus Prime riding a dinosaur.

That was enough for me.

I may rent it, but wouldn't go to the movies for that!

gi joe and transformers are cartoons that I loved in the day -- Tried to watch and could not sit threw one --

all the transformer movies and gi joe movies bring out the 12 year old in me I go in expecting nothing and come out feeling 12 for about a minute --

the ip is 30 years old and has been rebooted many times but the target audience has not changed -- kids 10-12.

story wise only the cartoon movie has a story and if they made a darker universe with unicrom and the death of prime transferring leadership to rodimus sure they could get jud nelson to do the voice.

I think I am going to rent 4 tonight and see what it does for me -- at least my 12 year old son will like it.

Transformer 5 -- they make it i'll watch it at home -- I think only star wars will get my $ at a theater --
