guys question I have grated down an old rubber mould (flakes are about 1mm) as I make the new mould mix I just add these flakes in then pour the combination into the mould what is the maximum ratio old to new rubber new/old 50%/50% , 70-80% old 20-30% new, what would you recommend pouring between 20 -50 casts could be both metal and resin pours (2 moulds) |

as long as you make sure it is well mixed there is really no definitive answer, it just may take an age to pour if you have too much old rubber in it. |

I'd make sure to coat the master with "pure" rubber first, before covering it with the mixed rubber. That way you'll reduce the chances of flakes messing up the detail…. |

Yes, make sure you cover the item with a fresh layer of rtv before you add in the "filler". If its the same, or close RTV then you really don't need to worry about mixing it in well as it will cure as a pretty good solid piece. The only problem I ever ran into was if there was mold release still on the old rubber. So wipe it clean first. |

If the old mold ruber is of questionable quality . ( stiff tears up brittle etc do not use it . otherwise as listed earlier |

You say metal and resin pours, at what temperature is the metal you are pouring? Have you used this rubber for metal before as not all rtv can take high temperatures? If you have done high temp metal which rtv are you using? |
