The Miniature Building Authority has finally launched their long-awaited Castle Kickstarter. Some awful purdy stuff here. link |

awfully expensive too! Still impressive, if I had more disposable I would certainly consider it. |

Wow, beautiful stuff. If I had the money I would certainly go for it |

Nice looking, but too expensive. More like another retail outlet than an attempt to raise funds for a project/endeavor. |

I really dislike the sliding scale price points. Having a single earlybird is okay, but releasing tiny numbers one group at a time and continuously raising the price is slimy. |

$83,000 USD from 93 backers the first day…. |

Too dog gone expensive for what you get. |

Agreed. I was set to dive into this one until I went to the KS site this morning and read through it. |

I've been waiting for this KS for a year…and will now pass. This is just straight retail pricing pre-orders. Makes the Upworks KS look more appealing: link |

Really pretty, but I'm not sure what the point of this kickstarter is. These are retail prices, and seem possibly to be even a bit MORE expensive than some comparable buildings currently in the line. The savings over retail are laughable and less than you'd get by going through a discount retailer. For example, unless you snag an early bird, the $500 USD small castle package advertises a 2.8% savings of $14.00 USD. That's almost insulting. The stretch goals are not bad, but they're mostly small scenic items and a few miniatures. The big stuff seems to be all paid add-ons. The club has a fair bit of MBA stuff and we like it alot, but this not something we'll be supporting. I've got no problem with established companies using KS but this really seems like more of a pre-sale than a chance to get a great deal by supporting the creation of a new product |

It's more than I'm willing to spend, but OTOH I have to recognize that the market forces have spoken given it's at 3x it's goal after one day. |

That's true. I'm sure the pledgers are folks who would purchase it anyway and want to be first in line. This KS is clearly aimed at them and not the kind of buyer (like me) who looks to KS as a place for bargains and might be swayed by a discount to purchase something they wouldn't otherwise buy. |

I'm on MBA's mailing list and they've been hyping this since way before Gen Con. Still I'm somewhat disappointed that you don't get into the real "castle" portion of the castle Kickstarter until $350 USD (the Tower House). I have several MBA items and know that you pay for quality, but still. |

i too was looking at the small castle package until i realized that I was only saving $14 USD and the shipping. and then i was thinking, what would i do with a castle anyway? but MBA does do quality work, but I don't need to pre-order at the premium price. When I pre-order something through my LGS i usually get a discount. |

I am disappointed too. The discount and pricing is very disappointing. I have a lot of their stuff but it just doesn't make sense for a KS. I agree that these people would buy anyway and it is likely hobby stores or groups. I think I will wait and get them a bit at a time and at a discount better than this. Sad, I was really waiting for this to be a great deal like they kept telling me at the last two Gen Cons. |
