I've posted a quick tutorial on assembly line painting for units of figures. Maybe this will help some people out who are daunted by large (ish) painting projects. link Enjoy, Kevin in Edmonton |

Doesn't everybody paint units of figures this way? |

I suppose that fantasy painters have less uniform subjects so it may seem less obvious to them. I must admit that I mostly paint nothing bigger than 10mm but a unit this small would class as 'tiny' to me. Again the view from an historical painters perspective probably differs from Fantasy/Sci-Fi. |

I think this is a great tutorial. I already paint using this method, but it is always nice to see what others are doing. Matthew |

I paint fantasy, and I use assembly-line painting all the time. Last night I painted & shaded the flesthtones on 8 GW High Elf Archers, and 5 GW High Elf Ellyrion Reavers. Even armies that are not uniform get a sort of assembly-line painting, usually using a set of colors and varying what parts get painted what (i.e. trousers on figure A get painted red, shirt of figure B, cloak on figure C; rinse and repeat). Well, now It took me years to figure out this the best way to paint! The new washes are way better than the paints us old guys had to put up with 35 years ago |

I do the same method with 36 figures at a time. I don't do a lot of washes just layering. I have to experiment with the washes, thanks for the tip on using them. Great tutorial Kevin, thanks for posting. Thomas |
