I'm sorry I've been inactive for awhile, the new jobs been rough, but I have been able to work this up. This is a repainted 'Cabbie' from the new pixar Planes movie. It's a C-119, post WW2 I know but it has great lines, was cheap [$20 at Target], is super sturdy, and I think with a proper pulpy paintjob will play the role of smuggler/pirate plane nicely. 18" wingspan lots of flat space for minis high wings for action around the plane useable cargo space
Hey! Isn'nt that
the Cord that Blackhawk's been looking for?
It comes apart with screws into nice and easy to spraypaint parts FYI the nose is easily lost and is made out of something that doesn't like spratpaint. Now all I need to do is weather it abit after the nose art decals arrive. Enjoy. |

That is brilliant! Nice job on the paint. A toy like this will definitely make a good looking and sturdy game piece. |

I think it looks great! I imagine that Doc Savage could have given up his Ford Tri-Motor for the "Flying Boxcar" in the later years. Paint "Hidalgo Trading Company" on the side of the fuselage and away you go! :-) |

Ordinarybase I agree 100%. There's a lot of play value in this aircraft. |

I saw this in the toy aisle yesterday and wonder how it could be transformed. Now I know, will definitely snag one |

Some modifications to the engines and it wouldn't be inconceivable for a near future or sci-fi setting. |

I also saw one of these at TRU yesterday. Really a nice product. I've got far too many toys to convert already or I would have bought one for sci-fi uses. |

Wow, what amazingly short wings it has ! I guess that is why the engines look so huge. |

That's pretty cool. Close enough to original and looks very suitable for wargaming purposes.

The whole thing has been chibi'ed (shorter wings, shorter tail, squat'er fuselage, etc) , but I think that's actually ideal for non-historical wargaming. At real scale and proportion, it'd take up a significant portion of the table. The toy version serves the same purpose, in a smaller space, just like the way most wargaming buildings tend to have smaller footprints than a proportionally accurate representation would. Additionally, it's really no more out-of proportion than most metal gaming minaitures are to real people. |
