Hoping to run a game in a few weeks, so to prepare, I laid out all the terrain and took a photo. Hopefully it will speed up setup on gameday. Anyone else ever done that?

Great looking table. I do photos too. I take the photo from a ladder to get a bird's eye view, but same idea. Helps when I want to re-run a scenario some other time. |

Terrement, 3 2.5x6ft collapsible tables. At the store I'll have 2 4x6ft tables. Got me close. |

Good looking table. Yes, I often take photos to aid me on game day. |

I am a bit anal I guess. I not only take multiple photos of my playtest of a game I am going to run at a convention, but I make a map with measurements on it. One time years ago I did not do the map with measurements. Part of the fight was a couple of VC squads trying to take a bridge guarded by a bunker with some CIDG in it. I put the rice paddy with the hedgerow too far away from the bunker. To get across the open ground, Charlie would have needed twice as many figures. Now I do the map. Tom |

I definitely do lay-outs and throw them on my cell phone when going to conventions (unless it's a set-up I've used numerous times before and have an idea). Alternatively, if I'm running a random scenario or a simpler game I'll create it on the fly. I find when I build a table and leave it up for two-three days I end up tweaking it frequently which gives me a better final layout. |
