Have just finished the above and have a few photos on the blog, along with a couple of pics of the next to the Dutch Lancers I painted earlier

You may want to recheck your sources though.
I just finished mine in 15mm and I believe the trooper saddle blanket cover ( shabique?- Spelling?) had the large band in crimson with white trim on either side of it and not the white/silver band as presented (which was typical for officers).

For the photography (hasten to add I am no expert);
-get more artificial light, not a flash unless a ring (and use white balance)
-use a tripod (or even a mini bean bag) for a longer exposure
-and a timer to avoid shake from pressing to take the shot
-and, above all, a narrow aperture to give greater depth of focus
-and play with ASA settings. 400 would do fine and give you greater depth for given light.

If you have an SLR these are all standard, but even the simplest digital these days allows most of this

Attention to focus and depth of focus especially would transform your pictures. The painting is impressive.
