You know, like the ones often seen in bars in Star Wars and other SF worlds:
link Could placing a couple of brightly colored monster pics beneath a Lego tile like this work? Would be better if it was a 2 x 2 stud square or round piece, don't you think?
auction
auction Or would you suggest using one of these over each monster image?
auction Any other ideas? Thanks, Dan PS. Here are some suggestions on what an SF saloon could look like in the outer planets and other far off colonies: TMP link |

Or is there a simple way to print tiny but crisp detail onto some sort of neon-ish transparent paper? If so, would that work, you think? Thanks, Dan |

There are clear figs out there already; maybe find some ultra-small? Maybe someone has a 'familiars' range that can be had in clear? Wash/ink-and/or-highlights for the not just clear? As always, mindless meanderings worth what your paying… ;->= Doug |

One thought would be to use clear lacquer like Evirotex and place a small picture or figure in it to simulate a hologram. Phil |

I made one for a friend of mine, for his 28mm Star Wars ship clearing action as terrain. I took a small wooden disk to make the table top and mounted it on a pedestal I had lying around. Then I painted the tabletop like the one in the Millenium Falcon with some controls on the side. I then used 6mm Fantasy figs and Tyranids from Epic for the pieces… just painted them in pastel colors and then glosscoated them. looked good for it's purpose. If you were looking to make a full size one but wanted the figures to still look "holographic" I think the same thing would work but with a thicker coat of gloss… maybe a floor wax or polish. Choosing colors for the figures that give them that not quite real quality like pastels helps the illusion since they don't look quite right. |

I'm all for detail on the items that i purchase and i also understand how far it can go in this scale but in all honesty i think this is going to far, if it could be done i doubt you would hardly be able to even see it anyway. The best you will probably be able to achieve is the clear LEGO stud on some kind of a central pedestal. |

Just thinking out loud here, but I wonder if you could do something with small mirrors by bouncing the image reflection around onto another surface? |

You could try using 6mm fantasy figures for the pieces… It's a bit too large for scale, but it could look wonderful. |
