I'm using 1/72 figures for an 1870 project. Would it be feasible to use ACW Infantry figures as Chasseurs? |

Musket Miniatures offers a pretty extensive line of 22mm scale ACW figures. This includes at least one figure in frock coat and kepi. There is no photo on their website, but I'd doubt the casting has the characteristic French leggings. |

The gaiters would be the main problem. |

Emhar makes a nice-looking set of Crimean War-era French infantry in 1/72 scale. link In this smaller scale, I think they'd pass once painted as 1870 Chasseurs in field uniform. |

Hagen Miniatures, a German company, has beautiful 1/72nd scale ranges for Crimea and Franco-Prussian Wars. Here's the link |

The Chasseurs didn't wear the frock coat, sorry. |

In my opinion there is enough differences to warrant having Chasseurs specific figures. Very noticeable in 15mm. The figures are readily available so there is no reason not to use the correct figure. At least in 15mm they are available. Don't know about 1/72 which I guess is roughly equivalent to 20mm. Might want to consider switching to 15mm or 25mm. |

Rallynow, while I'm a 15mm gamer, I've noticed there is quite a following out there for 20/22mm scale (albeit not in this period). Part of the reason may be that it's HO scale, so there is a lot of terrain out there. |
