O wise ones, like it says in the subject line, does anyone know the birth date for Major-General Sir Edward Barnes GCB who was Wellington's Adjutant-General at Waterloo. All I can find is a birth year – 1776 – and a suggestion he might've been born at Beech Hill Park (?) near Barnet, outskirts of London. But no extra detail and no supporting documents? Would it be shown in his enlistment papers? He joined the 47th Foot as an Ensign I believe?

Any details and sources would be much appreciated?

Nick
