"IN the last few years, there has been a dramatic rise of a seemingly new type of polity: the Islamic rebel state. Boko Haram in West Africa, the Shabab in East Africa, the Islamic Emirate in the Caucasus and, of course, the Islamic State in the Middle East, known as ISIS, or ISIL — these movements not only call for holy war against the West, but also use their resources to build theocracies.

Though in some respects unprecedented, these groups also have much in common with the Islamic revivalist movements of the 18th century, such as the Wahhabis on the Arabian Peninsula and the great jihadist states of the 19th century. They waged jihad against non-Muslim powers, and at the same time sought to radically transform their own societies…"

"Islamic history". Today is only different in the scope, not the ingredients, of jihadism….

In 622, Mohammed left Mecca. He and his followers fought about 30 Jewish tribes in the Media area. Capturing and executing 600-900 Jews/Hebrews/Israelites … Before the rise of Mohammed and Islam, the Middle East, Arabian Pennisula, etc. was full of Jews, Christians and even some pagans … It was not long before Islam caused the "infidels" to flee or die … Just because the State of Israel is only 66 years old, does not mean the Israelites/Jews/Hebrews[the names they were referred to in the Old Testament] and Islam are not traditional and continuing enemies … There is the ancestors of ISIS, AQ, etc. … It's been going on for 1400 years …

If you switch out the word "Islam/jihad" with "Christian/crusade", this sounds like exactly the local Moslems whining about those supposed peaceful Christians and their campaigns of invasion and murder about a thousand years ago. Or more recently.

That is a good reason for no [or very few] Western or as the jihadists say "crusader" BOTG … As I have said, no ones hands are really clean, regardless of the era, timeframe, etc. … We went to Iraq twice, Somali x 1 and A'stan x 1 [and still in all those places to one extent or another] … We should learn … that does not really work in the long run. And that is what the Jihadists/islamists/etc. wants the West/"crusaders" to do …Possibly, the "workable" solution at this time in the short run is moslem BOTG … With support from the West. In the air, training, log, intel, etc. … With limited SF, Spec Ops, CIA, etc. support … Hopefully the locals, besides the Kurds, get the idea and pick up the ball … Regardless … this going to be a very long chapter added to the War on Terrorism/Fanatical islam/jihadists, etc. …
