I posted this yesterday, and it seems to be hidden on the discussion board, but only when one goes into specific boards. Trying again. From Knoetel: link link The Frankfurt battalion that served in Spain in the "German Division" of the IV Corps. The Grenadier and ?Voltigeur? companies had epaulettes and tall plumes. The 4 center companies had shoulder straps, but carried short swords and bayonet scabbards on a separate crossbelt. The Front Rank (figure company) voltigeurs of the Guard look great for these flank companies. They have straight-topped gaiters, cutaway short-tailed coats, French elite epaulettes, and pointed "Polish" cuffs. The Tirailleurs of the Guard figures are the same, but no epaulettes – ready to become Frankfurt center company men! The shako plate seems to be the only problem – need to convert. Has anyone ever used these figures to do the Frankfurt troops? GdeP |

Sorry! At 78, I haven't learned to walk and chew gum at the same time on the computer. I have to put these in one at a time. link This should be fusilier, grenadier, Colonel and drummer of grenadiers. GdeP |

And this should be voltigeur and grenadier, up close and colorful. link

The green facings and yellow waistcoat for the Voltiguer companies is a bit unusual, with the rest of the battalion in red facings. Is that correct? |

Lienhart et Humbert (done in late 1800's, as were these Knoetel plates) show two different uniforms for the Voltigeurs. The first just had a yellow collar, while all the other companies had uniform dark blue. 1808. link The green appointments seem to be for 1810. I prefer the green – it is unique! Gdep |

When you want to do the standard bearers remember Maverick Models does 4 number variations. All speculative. I used Foundry and Front Rank Light Infantry standard bearers for mine. [URL=http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/tompanther/media/28mm%20miniatures/DSC08484.jpg.html]

Wow! Too bad I can't do 4 battalions, each with a different colour! Looks like, left to right, 1, 2, 3, and 5 are for Frankfurt. They all look great. Are you specializing in a collection of regimental colours? GdeP |

Garde de Paris Having had a run over many years with 54mm Historex I decided on a new 'project' 28mm standard bearers, fanion bearers drummers and sapeurs. Intent is as many Napoleonic armies as I can do. I believe we both have passed our 70th year, you ahead of me but not by much. I enjoy the research and painting. Not as good as many on here. This and my other hobby of classic cars keeps me off the streets. Best regards |

French regiments during the Napoleonic Wars are not varied enough, as the eagles with tricolor are essentially all the same. But their drummers offer a great deal of variety. I have found useful information on the 24th; 96th; 17 Leger; 54th; 27th Leger; 63rd; 94th; all of Ist Corp in Spain. Also, 17th Leger; 27th; 65th; 88th (rose coat faced dark green!); 26th; 3rd Swiss; all of MY IInd Corps in Spain. The 67th French line in yellow faced dark blue was also in Spain in the east. Lots of great colours, figures, to represent. You show a wonderful collection. GdeP |

GdeP Especially for you. Some pictures of display cabinets and more figures. 54mm Chasseur a Cheval Historex inspired by picture on wall in background. [URL=http://s1103.photobucket.com/user/tompanther/media/28mm%20miniatures/DSC08487640x480.jpg.html]

Hey, Tom! That would provide a great hour or two of "browsing!" Great job with the Guard Chasseur a cheval officer, "?after Gericault?" They are all most impressive! Tell us about the "Napoleon crossing the Alps," lower right, bottom shelf. I that a production figure? You show a sapeur in light blue, left of Napoleon on the tall cylinder. It that the 27eme Leger? I also see several French Grenadier carrying the eagles. "Someday" I'd like to do a battalion of the 8eme de Ligne in Spain, in dress uniform. The eagle was carried by a grenadier officer with bearskin with brass front plate – but with leather brim over the eyes! The two sergeants with the "spears" also were grenadiers with same bearskin. This regiment also had red cuffs edged white, but with a simple slash cuff – no cuff flap – edged scarlet. I have never seen a drummer or sapeur for them. They lost their eagle in Spain at Chiclana Barossa. I want to do them in Stadden 30mm, all advancing with muskets at about 30 degrees off straight up, but conversions will be a pain. Stadden only made Old Guard Grenadiers, so every figure must be converted. GdeP |
