… Weapons And Vehicles And Are Traveling Alone To Avoid Being Blasted From The Air.

"* Jihadists are also erecting flags on empty buildings to create confusion
* U.S.-led strikes hit oil fields and other facilities in Deir el-Zour province
* Raids also targeted Islamic State headquarters in the town of Mayadeen
* Comes as Cameron makes case for strikes in Iraq ahead of crunch vote

Islamic State militants are changing tactics in the face of U.S.-led air strikes in Iraq by ditching conspicuous convoys in favour of motorcycles.

The jihadists have also taken to erecting their notorious black flag on the rooftops of residential houses and buildings, many of them empty, to create confusion about their actual presence.

Tribal sources and eyewitnesses have reported fewer militant checkpoints to weed out 'apostates' and less cell phone use since the air strikes intensified and more U.S. allies pledged to join the campaign that began in August…"

Traveling alone, setting decoys, less cellphone use. All sensible tactics.

They are responding to the tactical situation. Being crazy doesn't automatically make them stupid.

They aren't crazy. Unusually clearheaded and rational in fact.

People who chop other people's heads off because of a difference in religions are crazy in my book. YMMV.

Got to agree on that point 79th … Of course we all know never to underestimate your enemy … but don't make him a bogey man either. For Daesh to attack they must mass … that is a good a time to strike with CAS, etc. … But … BUT … There has to be a strong local ground force(s), not Western. Many in the region will see that as another "crusade", etc. … The Kurds are effective but small. The Iraqis are next to worthless. Now if the Turks and maybe the Saudis wanted to go after Daesh, AQ, etc. … That along with Western/NATO CAS, supplies, intel, etc. … that may be a workable solution. But so far … the Turks and Saudis have proved almost as worthless as the Iraqis … as they don't want to play …

Everyone in the ME knows that this is just business. You stand to protect your own and hope that you and your "friends" are strong enough to defeat the latest bad guy and his army. If you are not, then no amount of tactics and cooperation is going to change a thing. If you are, then the bad guy goes down, as "he" usually does.

The single difference between this mess and previous, low-tech messes, is the rapidity with which individuals can travel and communicate. That speeds everything up enormously. What would have taken decades in previous scenarios now takes weeks or even days. And strikes can literally occur anywhere on the planet….

"But where's James Bond?".

Still sulking after the loss of the Scottish independence vote, no doubt.
