they look great !

but with the infantry based like that how long is it going to take you to move a division ? i hope you use some kind of movement trays .

the average battalion is 12 stands representing 12 figures so its not so bad.

These battalions began the campaign with over 1000 men each so 16 stands for each! yikes!

Hello David!

Great looking job. I finished this force earlier this year using Baccus. I now have all the battalions/regiments, etc. for the entire Waterloo campaign except for some Prussians.

The size of your units are pretty big, even for 6mm. Is it your intention to just do parts of Waterloo or the entire battle at once. If the entire battle what is the size of your table?

You might want to double check your flags as I think you might have them reversed. The guards carried the Kings colours on the left. Line units on the right.

Best regards,

Glenn

Thanks Glenn.

I am trying to do most of Waterloo campaign however I will be substituting formations for doubles where and when I can as my table is just 8' x 4'

Hello David!

With your new mounting will a line be single rank or two? My figures are on a single base with 60mm frontage and even with my table of 9'x 5' Waterloo will be a tight fit.

Really like your effort to build the terrain. Looking forward to seeing the finished project.

Best regards,

Glenn

Single. I did rebase for a while with 2 x 2 figures per base but decided against it as 48 fig battalions were taking a while to build especially when I am a gamer 1st and painter last :)

I am using Empire V basing so the bases are for 15mm figs and historically accurate although I have them a little deeper to handle uneven terrain better but the width of 120mm for a 720 man battalion in line of 3 ranks is accurate for 180m in real life.

I am using paper strength units and regiments so whatever battle or campaign I play the units can be adjusted by only fielding a portion of the stands and for regiments only a portion of the battalions.

So for French I am doing all regiments with 3 battalions of 720 men or 12 stands of 24 figs. That way for Waterloo I can take 1 or 2 or 3 battalions for the Regiments and anywhere from 6 to 12 stands where needed. All cool stuff.

Same for the Allies with 12 stand battalions except for some of the larger units and elites such as the Guards battalions with their 1000 men at the beginning of the campaign.

For Prussians I am working on 720 man to 900 man units or 12 to 15 stands per unit. Need to do more research here though before I settle on these.

Also with the larger number of stands I can do all formations especially the narrow road columns and british attack columns. :)

Hello David!

I really like the idea of 48 figs., but your right it takes too long to paint a unit and they take up too much table space.

I think my standard frontage of 60mm is going to be tight for my 9'x 5' table. To overcome this I'll probably have to reduce the size of some of the brigades (fewer units) and stack some of them one behind the other to fit. Do you think you might have similar problems and if so how do you plan to overcome it?

Best regards,

Glenn

I shouldnt because I have mapped out my 8x4 table on actual battlefields so I am only representing that on the table so the units should fit. If the battlefield is too big for that I may focus on a portion of the battle at a time. Also most of my games will be historical based not actual refights.
