Thanks for sharing this. I read in an article on the BBC yesterday that ISIS has control of an oil field in Syria and is supposedly collecting $2 USD million a month in revenues – all tax free of course. Based on reported 2010 volumes and assuming they control it for a year, this is over 40% of what Syria produces. Supposedly most Syrian oil goes to Germany, Italy, and France; surely they are not buying oil from ISIS, so who is buying it? Seems we need to stop that line of funding. |

The oil will end up on the international market where it will end up "laundered." All you need is one or two wholesalers who don't care where their product comes from, or who are supplied with forged documentation. Keep in mind that since there are still wells in the hands of legitimate ownership in both Iraq and Syria, it is difficult to simply turn away product from those source countries. |
