If you're on the mailing list, you've already received this.

(if you aren't familiar with FAD, it's here

After far too long, I've realized that I am probably not the best guardian for FAD any longer.
The game deserves a polish, continued support and all the good stuff but I don't have the time or energy to work on it, while also trying to carve out a living from publishing.

I don't want the game to languish forever either however. Hence, the best option for me is to open-source it. Open it up to the community at large. That way, people can build on it if they like, write their own variants, use rules or elements without worry and generally be creative.

Ideally, I'd love to see a handful of dedicated people set up a forum, wiki or similar situation to do their own development and act as a host for the rules in whatever form they end up taking.

If there's no real interest, I'll just make a regular document version available and send it off into the void.

Let me know if you have any interest in this.

A game I made many years back when Chain Reaction was new and Stargrunt was as good as scifi gaming got :)

link is fixed now.

My personal opinion is that you should tart it up and push it as a mainstream platoon level sci fi ruleset.

For anyone that's not encountered FAD there is some genius in there including:

The "nature" or stance of your army can affect their deployment and in-game bonuses.

The open army builders let you design any army. As you take more "buffs" or perks then the points cost grows exponentially.

You can take silly, big units but they become easier to hit if you cram them together. Much better than many games where you can use superior numbers and odds of hitting to force a win.

Nah…don't give up on it.

Ivan, FAD is just about perfect as it sits. Just keep it available. Maybe update the layout and put it up on Wargames Vault…

It's on the Vault already actually :-)
