I was asked to show some of the militia I just finished so I took a few pictures when I got home and uploaded them. I don't have the eyesight to paint fine details any more, but from 3 feet away on the table they are nice looking.

Most of my troops are dirty like they have been fighting for a while. There are exceptions as you will see.

I hope you like them.

Matt,
Thanks for sharing. They look good. I like your color scheme and agree with the "in the field" dirty look.

Thanks for the comments all. This is a new period for me and I have done a lot of new things with basing and painting. I know that I am going to have to label the bottom of the bases as I progress because I will forget what units they are. :-)

I have enjoyed painting them so far. The latest militia unit had a wider range of light and dark brown jackets but when I added the soft tone shade from army painter, they all merged toward the center of the color range. I have a unit of firing line that I am going to try to mix up more lighter jackets. I also noticed after I had painted the figures that some have leggings like Indians wore. I will try to pick those out on the next round.

More British are on the bench for painting. Saratoga uniforms if I recall correctly. My goal is to get one 24 figure unit done per week. Or three artillery or one cavalry of 8 figures and a few mounted officers. If I can keep on track I should be ready to play a nice size game next summer.

Those Fife & Drum figures seem to blend well with the Perry and Foundry figures.

You've a nice looking army there!

I'm working on my own AWI project and know how much work you have put into this. Good work. Keep going(me too).

Thanks again everyone. I appreciate the kind words. I wish I had time and talent to paint them all show case but then I would not have time to paint.

I was not looking forward to painting the militia but they turned out to be fun to paint. I don't like the Welsh figures with the short jackets. They have all the gear on including backpack. Lots of belts. Then I saw that the packs should have been dark brown and not black. I refuse to correct this because they are mounted and sealed. I will just learn and move on.

Of course this means that they will be on the table the longest. It is always the better painted troops that run away after the first volley. :-)
