Most of my AWI armies are Old Glory 15s and Blue Moon 18s. The infantry seem to work pretty good together. I love the Blue Moon 18s infantry. I recently acquired several mounted Blue Moon 18 officers and while I like the modeling in general, they are pretty small compared to the infantry figures (maybe even true 15s). I have found the dragoons for the Old Glory 15s are a much better match size wise. I have not actually bought any Blue Moon 18 dragoons yet. Size wise do they match up better with the infantry (big) or mounted officers (small)? I am fine with officers being smaller, but really don't want my dragoons to look tiny. In particular I need Tarleton's British Legion Dragoons. The closest Old Glory 15s has is mounted Queen's Rangers, but the casting doesn't have the cap brim so I would prefer the Blue Moon ones if they match up size wise. If the Blue Moon British Legion dragoons run on the small size does anyone have any other recommendations for larger sized Tarleton's dragoons? Thank you in advance, Redcoat 55 |

I bought some Blue Moon Dragoons a couple of years ago, as I wanted to match with Eureka SYW stuff. I found them to be a little larger than the Old Glory SYW cavalry, but nowhere near the size of the Eureka cavalry. The Blue Moon infantry figures I bought (from their FIW range) were a good match with the Eureka and Old Glory infantry. I think it's worth buying a unit of the Blue Moon Light Dragoons and seeing for yourself- I had no problem selling mine on when they didn't match my other cavalry and they are quite nice figures if size happens to be OK. You could also try putting the Blue Moon riders onto AB horses, might lift them a bit. I remounted a lot of my Old Glory cavalry onto Battle Honours horses (also sculpted by Tony Barton, I think) and they look a lot better. Another possibility is Lancashire Games. Their 15mm do vary a lot in size and quality, but I have some of their SYW cavalry; the horses are bigger than Old Glory, although the riders are a little dwarfish. They do a British Light Dragoon: link |

Redcoat, The Blue Moon cav will match the officers in size. I like their 18mm WSS but have found the horse and officers too small also. I switched to using Eureka 7yw frech cav and dragoons. On my Blue moon WSS cav the foot reach the shoulder height of the rider on horse. I would agree with you seems BM cav are true 15mm and foot & art are 18mm shame really. |

You might want to look at Polly Oliver, which was recently re-launched with the promise of re-modelled horses (which, as with Blue Moon, rather let down what was otherwise a very nice range). meetpollyoliver.blogspot.co.uk |

Supercilius Maximus, the Polly Oliver figures are nice (I had some of them in my AWI collection before I sold it), but they are a true 15mm figure and are rather too small to stand alongside Old Glory (they matched up nicely with the 15mm Minifigs AWI) I haven't seen any of the new releases, but it was my understanding that they were using the original masters, so I cannot see that they would be suitable for the OP's purpose. |

Thank you for the thoughts gentlemen. Fortunately the AWI was pretty much an infantry war anyway. I still do love Blue Moon quite a lot. |

The Blue Moon infantry are very good (telegraph pole flag staffs aside) and they have put a lot of thought into the numbers of officers and sergeants in the command pack, as well as much variety into irregular forces eg militia. |

Redcoat 55, I am also in the midst of an AWI painting project involving almost exclusively Blue Moon 18mm. They are beautiful figures and very durable. I don't mind the flag poles, Super Max, at least they don't snap off like my OldGlory15s and are mostly covered with the paper flags anyway. To answer the question, have you considered the Blue Moon 'Mad Anthony Wayne' dragoons? Maybe these would work with a few modifications?

Wow, those horses look a lot more robust. Do you know if the dragoons have roundabout jackets or tails? Thank you. |

Sorry Redcoat55, I don't actually own those figures, so I cannot speak to the finer details. I am merely reproducing the photo from the OG website. |
