How would Hessian Jaegers be fielded? As a "regular/normal" size unit or would it be split up into 2 "small" units?

The Brandywine scenario shows them as a small unit with sharpshooter and skirmish special skills. Pg 89

Thanks Matt!

Always as a small unit. I don't think a whole battalion was sent, but the small unit is in almost every major campaign.

You are most welcome. Happy to help. I just finished another American Militia unit tonight. Will be basing them tomorrow. Not doing any scenario in particular, just painting units that I like the look of. I figure that I will have enough painted to play a game in the spring. I need to work on some terrain as well.

Pix?

saltflats192923 Sep 2014 7:04 p.m. PST

Could there be 2 small units?

vtsaogames23 Sep 2014 7:07 p.m. PST

I don't recall two detachments of them being present at any battle, though Captain Ewald's men seem to be everywhere. Always seem to be 100 of them or so.

Thanks V. I have 12 figs and am trying to figure out how best to use them. I want my "regular" units to be 12 figures because thats how my inventory breaks down.

I don't normally post pictures of my work, but I will take some when I get home this afternoon since you asked.

I'm thinking of picking up the Black Powder Rebellion supplement, but all the figures in my AWI collection are individually-based.

What figure-base system is used for Black Powder Rebellion?

Dave Crowell24 Sep 2014 7:12 a.m. PST

I have never had a problem with using movement trays and single based figures for group element based games, as the bases or elements are usually markets with no mechanical importance to the actual figures.

If the unit occupies the proper area the number of figures in that unit is inconsequential.

If I have read the diary of Ewald correctly the Jäger detachments should almost always be accompanied by some light infantry with bayonetts.

One thing to remember is the Rebellion is a supplement. You will need the core black powder rules to play.

Okay, I posted a topic on some figures I have painted over the past year. I just finished a militia unit last night that needs to be based now.
