The link below shows my personal photos of a singular museum treasure, U-505. In late August I was able to be a member of a fourteen person tour group for two hours before museum public hours. The tour lasted perhaps an hour and a quarter in The Battle of The Atlantic Exhibit including the boat itself – inside and outside. Afterwards we were able to wander at will inside the canoe. And man did I! (Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, IL USA)
Retired US Navy submariner vets were on hand to answer questions not handled in the tour guide's presentation with great detail. This special tour is available several times monthly and was worth every dollar to me. It is not the same as the normal 15 minute inside tour during public hours.
Photos were woven into my new blog story Lost South South Pacific Adventures in the link below. Naturally you may tour the boat within the context of the story.
However, if you wish to accompany the expedition, from the independent Island Nation of Malabascar to Isla incognita, Herr von Stiehl stipulates several unbreakable regulations. If you are disinclined to follow them, after touring the canoe, motor cars await to take you to the clipper departing the harbor for a free flight to Manila. With herr von Stiehl's compliments. The expedition is not for the faint of heart.

I hope you will enjoy the photos and story as well.

PS The story advances by briefly captioned photos of military miniatures, real locations plus U-505. The time is 1937 and The Weimar Republic survived turbulence of the 1930s intact.
