Dear fellows, can anyone tell me which german states are covered in those uniform guides? Is it only the "main" german states of the war (i.e. : the ones listed in here: link ), or are other minor states covered?

Graf Bretlach22 Sep 2014 11:20 a.m. PST

I have --

Uniforms of Swedish and German states line and cannon
Bavaria, Saxony, Wurtemburg, smaller kreis states, Palatinate, Hesse-Darmstadt, Hanover, German regiments in French service.

Another volume ditto for cavalry

plus

Bavaria, Saxony Palatinate supplement – thicker and an improvement on the above.

plus

Hanover, Hesse-Kassel Brunswick and Schaumburg supplement
again a more detailed version of the above.

I have every one of their booklets, if you need anything.

I may have missed some states – no contents page in the early volumes.

Dear Graf Bretlach, do you remember which smaller kreis states are covered?

have you read these books? What you ask is a task worthy of Hercules and the Augean stables incident.P+H books make Empire III look easy to read! well played GB.

The Reichsarmee volume has lots of the other circles too!

Good sources of information marred by poor typesetting, editing and pre-computer self publishing!

Graf Bretlach22 Sep 2014 5:17 p.m. PST

oops yes forgot the volume on the Reichsarmee which covers mostly Swabian and Franconian circles and others that provided contingents to the Imperial army and really updates the original two volumes.

Yes, good sources and crying out to be retyped, coloured drawings and reorganised into nice books (but wheres the fun in that)

Perhaps Don, you should say who it is you are looking for, I think my Herculean moment has faded.

Sorry guys! I heard before about the disorganized display of information in those books, but I didn't know it was that bad x_x

I'm mainly trying to find if those books cover the small armies/units raised by the princes/bishops/cities of the small kreis states, other than those units that were part of the Reichsarme. Would those books have information like that?

Aren't the 3 volume SYW uniform guide by Bill Biles, available I think from On Military Mattters, basically just a compilation and summary of P&H?
