What period do you find so very interesting that you'll play it every time you get the chance, regardless of the rules being used? For me it is Galley Warfare, ancient or renaissance, just have to play. |

I can't think of a WW2 game I wouldn't at least consider playing based on the rules. Just things I like more or less. |
John the OFM | 22 Sep 2014 10:19 a.m. PST |
AWI, although some rules I ran into at conventions have been turkeys. |

French & Indian, AWI, Napoleonic, ACW. I have no discretion. The smell of black powder in the morning… |

Renaissance. I still haven't found my ideal rules, so I keep looking. |

None. I have found crappy rules I would not touch for every era… |
Pictors Studio | 22 Sep 2014 12:22 p.m. PST |
I'm with Dynaman8789. There are rules out there that are so unappealing that they would make the most exciting battle seem like a chore to play. |
kreoseus2 | 22 Sep 2014 1:55 p.m. PST |
Space fighters. I love cap ship/fleet engagements as well, but star fleet accountancy es me off. |

I'll play just about anything so long as the rules are simple. |
Extra Crispy | 22 Sep 2014 2:46 p.m. PST |
I'll play anything that looks good. |

Pirates would probably sucker me in, as would a pulp game. So would kaiju. But that assumes I'm completely unfamiliar with the rules. If I know the rules stink (at least for me), then I won't be sucked in, regardless of my interest level in the subject. On the other hand, I often avoid settings of high interest to me with unfamiliar rules, as I've encountered so many turkeys in the past. |

WW2 and Napoleonics cast a spell over me. Unless it's Napoleon's Battles or Rapid Fire, I prefer to avoid games of those. |
Lupulus | 22 Sep 2014 3:21 p.m. PST |
Mordheim. The rules are old, bug-ridden and fun fun fun. |

Colonials, because I'm still on the hunt for that "perfect" set of Colonial rules! |
Early morning writer | 22 Sep 2014 9:56 p.m. PST |
I was set to say AWI but the any rules qualification tosses me out. Some rules are so bad they should never have been considered let alone actually written and to heck with playing them. |
etotheipi | 22 Sep 2014 10:01 p.m. PST |
Not a period, but motorcycles. |
Shaun Travers | 23 Sep 2014 2:31 a.m. PST |
Ancients (anything up to around 1000AD-ish) I would play anytime with most rules, even ones I do not know. Not all rules – there are a some (not many) I do not think I could bring myself to play. In other periods there are more rule I would not play, or I do not know the period well enough to jump in any play regardless. |

Anything but sci-fi, fantasy, aerial and post WW2, although a well terrained Vietnam game could suck me in. |

Me it's the other way around, I refuse to play napoleonic anything unless it has little wooden blocks, and Empire II is what I started with after my airfix civil war hardtack rules……… My 2 airfix divisions were pretty nice and I miss them after 40 years. |

Hard sci-fi 6mm tanks at company level or above. Or snub fighters with some record-keeping (Looking at you, Silent Death!) |

Napoleonics… and I might as well add skirmish games, regardless of era. |
Great War Ace | 18 Oct 2014 7:57 p.m. PST |
I am very hard to please, so I won't play a game with rules that I think are lacking. It's why I (we) built our own…. |
