Here is what looks to be a fun family film from Australia: Dinosaur Island. The neat thing is it fully embraces current thinking about what dinosaurs looked like, including the big screen's first feathered T. rex!

It's a small-budget film, reportedly made for around $6 USD million US. No, the special effects may not be up to par with some larger budgeted films, but that's never been a deal breaker for me. Their Facebook page has movie posters and concept art: link

No official word on a release date, but AinItCoolNews is saying it comes out in the UK on Sept. 29. I'm betting it will be a video-on-demand release here in the states. (Nothing wrong with that. I watched Snowpiercer that way and really enjoyed it.)

Hope parents looking for this movie don't confuse it with the decidedly kid-unfriendly 1994 film Dinosaur Island:

Looks terrific. I don't think I saw forearms on the T-Rex though, are you sure that's what it was?

In the Land of the Looost!-:^))

Cool, look like it's at least worth a rental.

The 1994 Dinosaur Island is not only not kid-friendly, it's also not viewer-friendly. That was one seriously bad movie, not even saved by the dinos and the cavewomen.

Actually, if you pause the video when the T.rex appears, you can see its forearms. And yes, the plot is very much like Land of the Lost, the movie, which we will never speak of again.

I HATE the idea of feathered dinosaurs. They should still be grey-green, tail dragging lizards! End of rant.

The color choice throws me off.
