How are these? Cover well? What's been your experience?

Great for scenery

Cheap enough for you to buy some to try them out

You are not going to be able to dilute them like a vallejo (etc.) to create glazes and washes and layers

I use them all the time for terrain and minis. You may have to thin some and others may require multiple coats. But I don't have any issues them for years.

They are thin. I use them for basing and doing terrain, since they are so inexpensive.

Never used the "Smart Paints" brand but I really like the Delta Ceramcoat brand craft paint. Better pigmentation and application than most other craft paints and almost as nice as some miniature paints. It's only a dime or two more than the other brands, so I don't bother anymore with other craft paints unless it's for a certain shade I can't find in Delta.

Have to agree… I always go with Ceramcoat if I can because generally speaking the quality is a little better.

I don't care for most of the craft paints for metallic though.

As you may know, Michael's no longer carries the Delta Ceramcoat range (those are my preferred craft brand too). I don't know about JoAnns.

Yes… Very sad, but JoAnns and Hobby Lobby do carry them.

Oh, I didn't realize. Kind of annoying. Now I can't ask my wife to pick up paint for me when she's out at the mall where she and her friend often go.

I hadn't been to Michaels in a while, but I can confirm what Dervel says about JoAnnes and Hobby Lobby still having them. If you've got one of those around, it's definitely worth the trip.

Walmart carries Ceramcoat, along with other makers, although the selection is not as extensive as JoAnns and Hobby Lobby.

I go there when I need one of the basic colors I use most since the other two stores are over 20 miles away.
