Im sure this has come up many times before but the search function has failed me and scanning through old posts i have not found what i am looking for? Embarking on my first ECW project, 2 x Warlord Battalia starter sets. I usually game in 15mm and then its usually WW2. When starting out on this project i had put no thought into the storage of these 28mm Pikemen. Like most i have very limited storage space so i was just wondering about peoples preferred ways of storing and transporting? Cheers |

It's pretty straightforward. What you need are containers deep enough to hold the figures with the pikes (much deeper than figures with other weapons). Secondly, you need a means to stop the figures moving about in the container. There are various methods, using magnetised bases for example. For my 15mm ECW pikemen, they are mounted in pairs on 20mm square bases and I store them in unit sized boxes made to be a close fit to the size of the bases. |

First, replace the plastic pikes with wire ones. Some of the arms are molded on to the pikes, those I left alone and only replace them when (not IF) they break. They'll travel better if you base them 4 to a stand rather than singly. That's going to depend on your favored rule set but I've found that you can play most systems based like that anyway. Regardless of what the rules say. For storage, I have them on shelves. But, I previously used the large tubs that you can get at Wallmart that are about 6" deep and about 3' long. The ones designed to supposedly slide under a bed. I stacked those under the game table. |

Hi Loki77, My solution is to magnetise the bases (with magnetic sheet) and store & transport them into a metallic tool box (see picture here :
). The bottom of the box contains horses and pikes, the other parts, shooters, artillery, etc. The height is perfect for Warlord pikes but could be a bit too short for North Star ones. Sorry for my bad English. Kind regards, Benoit |

One thing that I would suggest is to NOT use any "forward thrusting" pikes. They are historical but prevent contact with enemy stands and are a pain to transport since they prevent your own bases from contacting each other as well. -- Jeff
