Don't forget that Friday is Talk Like Pirate Day. If you cannot get in a Pirate Wargame on Friday, it is still ok to do so over the weekend. What games do people have planned?

We are doing all kinds of fun things at the law library where I work tomorrow. One of our law professors is giving an informal lecture about modern day pirates as in Somolia and he is in the process of finishing a book on the topic. We also are having a treasure hunt in the library on various law and pirate related topics plus swag such as chocolate coins, eye patches, pirate poetry, create your own pirate name, etc and giving away a study room for the mid-terms. I will of course be in full pirate regalia and will hit the local Krispy Kreme on the way to pick up a free dozen glazed doughnuts.

We have a Krispy Kreme in our metro area. I'm almost tempted to do that since I have tomorrow off from work.

Cringing, as the only reason it's called Talk Like a Pirate Day is because "Mimicking Robert Newton as Long John Silver*" was too unwieldy.

* this does include Jeffrey Rush's rehash of the mannerisms as Barbossa.

I might actually have fun with TLAPD if folks were able to attempt to live up to the name.

I have a game set up where the MIB are chasing down a bootleg movie ring distributing cheap copies of the new Godzilla DVD/Blu Ray with subliminal hypnotic messages to commit petty crimes and funnel the proceeds to an offshore account.

Not quite pirates, but close enough.

I remember REALLY celebrating this with my kids a few years back… good times. I will be home alone all day tomorrow packing to move, no TLAPD joy to be found unless I talk to myself.

EDIT: World of Warcraft includes a TLAPD event, I get to celebrate after all!

@michaelsbagley: Don't wait for everyone else, DIY! It's time to fish or cut bait, mate; so get to work and show those fly-by-nighters who don't know the ropes how to talk like a pirate.

Or rock like a pirate:

As I come from the home city of the likes of Blackbeard, my accent is probably something like his, so I'll just talk "normal".

A Pirate went to the doctors:-
Pirate: "Doctor I got these moles"
Doctor: "Don't worry, they're benign"
Pirate: " No, look again doctor, they be ten!"

Perhaps you should troll YouTube a bit. Sure to be lots of good fodder there.
