This is why I don't game samurai warfare. I can't paint anything like this. |

Gorgeous work, but that's awfully fancy kit for an ashigaru. Doug |

Very beautiful, both the kit and the paintjob. The only minor point is the sword which is stuck into the ground to keep it close at hand maybe?? Seems so disrespectful. |

A lot of the sword-is-the-soul-of-a-Samurai stuff comes from the Edo period, not the Sengoku. The overwhelming majority of the swords used were of really low quality, only giving a good cut for ~4 people before breaking. Heck, back in the 800s-1200s, the bow was the weapon of the warrior, not the sword! |

Heck, back in the 800s-1200s, the bow was the weapon of the warrior, not the sword! Indeed, and in the Sengoku this had shifted from the bow to the spear. Again not the sword. I was not actually thinking about the soul of the samurai.., it feels more like some improper use of a "tool". Heck, you do not stick your best kitchenknife in the lawn when you are barbequing are you? 😜 Certainly, I am not doing that. |
