Hi all. I've been reading The Wars of the Roses by Alison Weir. I'd love to see some of your painted armies. Links please! |

(54mm scale – Battle of Bosworth)
(15mm scale – Battle of Northampton)
(Yorkist cavalry)
(scale demo … some 1:1 2mm figures – 350 of them – in front of some 54s … showing what the base really represents) Phil Ancients on the Move |

what a great thread, all really nice stuff I agree, Peace Man … such a simple thread but, scrolling down, a joy to see other people's soldiers (diverse selection too) … ! Thanks for the positive, sneakgun – I made the base of 2mm figs to illustrate to non-players what we mean by 'each base represents 3-500 actual men' Phil |

Yesthatphil…I really like that comparison between the 2mm and the 28mm stand. As we've all so often discussed, many think it's easy to wheel a large unit because, visually, we have so few figures on a stand. The 2mm comparison begins to show that it's a large group of people you have to move in and organized manner on the battlefield. |

Thanks – FWIW the guys in the background are 54s (sorry if there was confusion), Ray … but yes you are right. Particularly something like my DBA version of Bosworth, where the scale is fairly extreme – so, particularly for the general public, I made up a 1:1 base to illustrate the scale point. As it happens, the little 2mm figures are a hit with non-wargamers anyway … they love and kind of know about all our standard size figures – but the really little guys (say 2mm and 6mm) come as a real revelation (people's eyes just light up) … Anyway – enough burble from me (I think people are here for the pictures )! Hardly counts as an army (less than 700 figs total, from memory), but these are my old Foundry figs, and this is supposed to be Tewkesbury
