I've recently started a superhero wargaming blog-

THE MISADVENTURES OF CHIMICHANGA-X

Since I'm new to superhero wargaming, I thought that I'd create a blog to chronicle my exploits into this wargaming genre. I am in the process of doing research into the miniatures and rule systems available. So far, I have ordered a couple of figures from Crossover Miniatures . I will probably write a review for them on the blog. I still am undecided on a rule system.
I'd like to invite you to check out the blog, and comment with any useful advice or tips.

Okay here's a question: What rule system would you recommend? Sell me on it. Please provide links.

Another question: Besides Crossover Miniatures, who manufactures 28mm scale modern superhero type figures? Again, please provide links.

Hi Chimichanga

Can't provide links due to the machine I'm on, but a brief list of superhero miniature manufacturers follows:

Black Hat Miniatures – Mutants & Madmen range
Reaper Miniatures – Chronoscope range
Wizkids – Heroclix (of course)
Four Colour Figures – Superfigs range (avialable from Brigade Games)

You occasionally find single figures in unrelated ranges, such as the Karkus in the Doctor Who range from Black Tree Design and a male and female superhero from Victory Force Miniatures in their SurburbaKnights range.

Of course, due to the multi-genre nature of superhero gaming, you can pretty much justify any figure. Some of the Syntha Androsynths from Urban Mammoth make good armoured heroes/robots and the Dreadball team figures are also a good bet.

Another overlooked area for figures is some of the Fantasy Football ranges, such as those produced by Impact Miniatures – if you want a Greek-inspired hero, look at their Middle Kingdoms range.

Hope that helps.

I find SuperSystem to be one of the very best for actually simulating any power you can imagine. It's great for a read through even if you don't like the rules. They are my go to rules.

Just recently out is Power Legions. Ganesha Games writes my go to skirmish game Flying Lead. Very cool, simple mechanics. I haven't played PL yet, but it is a slick system that should gather steam. It only came out this month.

Good luck!
