"Kurdish peshmerga forces on Tuesday recaptured seven Christian villages in northern Iraq in clashes with Islamic State (IS) jihadists, an officer and a cleric said. Tens of thousands of Iraqi Christians, most of them Chaldeans, fled their homes when IS militants launched a renewed drive in the north in early August. Iraq's largest Christian town, Qaraqosh, and dozens of other villages were all but emptied in what Christian leaders described as the worst disaster for the minority in centuries…" Full article here link Amicalement Armand |

I wish I knew some Kurds because I'd like to take them out for a drink. |

LOL. Yes you would taker a Muslim out for a drink, I get the disconnect guys :) Rather get off it, get a package of sweets and nuts send via Post to Kurdistan local affiliates (I'm sure there are some in your respective areas) Make a bunch of Peshmerga, happy. 1st learn a bit about kurdish customs and culture, you might not like it all. |

The Peshmerga appears to be the best force in the region, next to the IDF … US/NATO, etc. should give them all the support they need. It's just like in American Football … you give the ball to the guy that gains yardage and scores … Looks like to me, many of the other armies in area are a bunch of over paid bench warmers/4th stringers … Or as my old HS Football Coach used to call'm : The Green Weeny Squad ! |

I've been to a bar in Irbil. Quite a few Kurds drink. And they can sure work a grill! |

NATGEO had a great documentary, "The War Geanerals". Starting will around the time of 9/11 to now. Interviewing all those US Generals involved in both Afghanistan and Iraq … some very interesting conversations. And some very sobbering thoughts … You may still get to see it on NATGEO. Check it out … worth watching. I'd like to see it again … Informative, accurate and sometimes a little scary … link |

Spent Christmas dinner with the deputy PUK official in Kahnikahn (spelling?). Drank Turkish beer and Jack Daniels. I think a drink is not inappropriate to offer a Kurd. |
