Hi, i am on the way to completing the actual Hessian component of the German deployment and thought it might be nice to complete all the Germans.
The Brunswick component has a light battalion would these be dressed the same as Brunswick musketeers?
I know that the dragoons never received mounts so what uniform for them, i am assuming that they would ditch high riding boots in favour of something more practical.
Hesse-Hanau I believe their uniform is very similar to the Hesse-casel for the Erb Prinze? would the chasseurs and frei-corp be essentially in jaeger attire?
2nd battalion Anhult-Zerbest any suggestions for croatian pandours?

thanks again in advance a fair few question, mostly seeking clarification. I am using 10mm figures, so paint conversions etc are that little bit easier

Brunswick Von Barner Light battalion was half musketeers, half jaegers. The musketeer contingent had no lapels and black cuffs. Since you are using Perry figures the best match is the Foundry SYW Prussian "Frei Corps" figures.

Good luck finding anything for Anhalt Zerbst. Since they took no real part beyond being a garrison unit in Canada that is not much of a problem.

Ah. I thought you were using Perry 28mm. Sorry.

As far as Anhalt Zerbst goes, the Pandour Battalion was a late war garrison unit that never saw combat. If you feel compelled to model it, I would probably start with Austrian SYW Pandour figures.

The Hesse Hanau Musketter Regiment Erb Prinz was not uniformed the same as the Hesse Kassel Fusilier Regiment Erb Prinz. The Hesse Hanau Erb Prinz was made up of 5 musketter companies and a grenadier company which remained with the regiment. The Hesse Kassel Erb Prinz wore fusilier caps until 1780. The Hesse Hanau wore red facings with white brandenburgers and the Hesse Kassel facings were dark crimson. The Hesse Hanau jagers wore standard jager dress.

I believe the von Barner Battalion had 4 or 5 companies of infantry and one of jagers.

ciaphas,

Two sites to visit:

1) Claus Reuter's German-Canadian history website, which includes masses of detail on the Brunswick contingent that served in Canada throughout the war:-

home.ica.net/~claus/Page0.htm

2) The Perry Miniatures website has a detailed article on the uniforms and organisation of all of the German troops in the Saratoga campaign:-

link

The Light Battalion von Barner was formed in Brunswick immediately prior to departure for America, and most likely consisted of men drafted from the units remaining behind in Germany. It had one jaeger and four musketeer companies, the theory at the time being that the greater loading time for a rifle meant that you needed a number of men armed with conventional muskets and bayonets to protect them (in fact, during the Saratoga campaign, detached platoons of grenadiers more commonly supported the jaeger, who often acted detached from the Light Battalion). The Light Battalion musket companies had coats without lapels and an aiguilette on one shoulder, but I'm not sure if those differences from the uniforms of the line infantry would require more than a simple paint job in your chosen size of 10mm.

The dragoon regiment actually had one weak troop of about 30 rank-and-file mounted from quite early on in the campaign, who were used for HQ guards, couriers, generals' escorts etc. All members of the regiment wore gaiters for dismounted work when in America (not the "ten pound boots" of silly mythology) and carried musketoons rather than short carbines, so the bulk of the regiment could be depicted with line infantry and the mounted troop with SYW Prussian dragoons.
