Anyone have any guide or information on how to paint these correctly? |

I based mine on the Osprey book on the Imperial Household but far more on info sent to me by Niels at Westfalia. I have many photos of the original from him, but this seems right to judge by any colour images/prints from the time. If you look on their Facebook page, there is another suggestion, based on a museum piece, but I wonder if not a mistake in restoration. Yellow body, red wheels was standard in France NB the postman's coat is blue not green (that was only for Napoleon's Household postillion's)

Promise you my figure painting has improved since then. I used a wash on the buff waistcoat and breeches……but not on the red facings and lapels. The white of the tricolour band needs shading and has run down over the red. His wooden pipe should surely be white and clay…….and any poor horse that produced droppings that size has a problem! |

Lovely vehicle, but how would you use it in a game? Vendean rebels attempting to interrupt the post? Cossacks or Spanish guerrillas trying to seize important dispatches? Perhaps if Kevin Kostner were the coachman, I'd have a better idea of just how this Postman could be employed on the tabletop. |

I could certainly see this escorted by Chasseurs or Dragoons through guerrilla territory. The Osprey book is interesting on just how militarised was Napoleon's postal service. It was not for Christmas cards, junk mail or little brown boxes of goodies from Perrys. |

That's a lovely piece of eye candy deadhead. |

Thanks indeed but Niels at Westfalia must take the credit. His designs are just amazing and he shows great imagination in his choice of releases. If you haven't seen their Facebook page or Homepage, take a look. Lots like this! |
