I have a couple of plastic or resin bombed out buildings. I would like to use them on multiple fronts. However, above the first floor there is a smooth, indented area that was clearly meant to be a sign. Obviously, picking one language for a sign makes it look a bit out of place in a different area. Any suggestions about what I can do with the space? I thought about a torn-off look (think an old billboard where they are replacing the ad), but I have no idea how to do it. My talent is limited, but I'm a lot better than I was a year ago. Thanks. |

I have done what haywire said. I glued a strip of magnetic tape onto the building, then made a sign out of cardboard and glued a couple of small steel 1" x .5" bases to the back |

Thanks, I had not thought of that. The building is really beat to hell. Any suggestions on how to make the signs look worse for wear? |

Make it a Coca-Cola, Pepsi, or liquor ad. No need for words, as they'd be pretty much universally known…. ;-) For that "ripped" look, make a paper sign first, glue it into the space, let dry, then carefully tear strips off the surface (practice first! ;) |

Weathering with very thin black and/or brown ink washes. Perhaps light sanding as well. Maybe cut off some sections around the edges, and poke some holes through it too. If you're printing them yourself on the computer, you can experiment with lots of different techniques. |

You can carefully burn bullet holes in the signs with a lit incense / mosquito chaser / joss stick. I've used this technique to some effect with paper AWI and Napoleonic battleflags, and it works well. |

There are scrapbooking scissors that might be useful in making a poster look torn. |

Make one sign. On it put the words "WHAT THE H**L ARE YOU LOOKING DOWN HERE FOR! |

I have started to make signs for the hobby shop that sponsors my games. I have one that is a highway billboard, the billboard sign is their business card. |
