I am really looking for the Panzer 35(t) unlocking. These were Czech LT vs 35 light tanks taken-over by the Germans. As well as the Czechs and Germans, it was used by the Romanian, Bulgarian, and Slovak forces. Armed with a 37mm canon and twin MG this will make a good addition to a Balkan/Eastern front skirmish force. The Tascan R-2 was a Romanian tank-hunter with a captured soviet 76.2cm (3") field gun on a Panzer 35(t) chassis. This will give your Panzer 35(t) tanks a real anti-tank backing in true Marauder-like style. The Renault EU Chenillete is (obviously) a French design, with over 5,000 built. They are small armoured carriers used for weapons support to French infantry divisions, and could be found towing AT guns, carrying heavy mortars, or up to a tonne of ammo. Captured by the Germans they were put in to a variety of uses, and some were given to allies like the Italians and Romanians are gun-tractors and ammunition carriers. |

Renault UE were built under license by the Romanians befor the war . In the late stages of june 1940, some 25mm AT guns were put on Renault UE and used as portee guns firing forward . |

Sablefox, are you aware that another company already has the Panzer 35(t) out? |
Sablefox | 15 Sep 2014 4:23 a.m. PST |
Yes. German WW2 tanks is a crowded market. So I could by the Pz 35(t) elsewhere, but:- 1) I like the looks of the models – some other ranges I've seen (and I am not making a comment on any manufacturer's Pz 35 (t)) look to me to be a bit crude, flimsy or over done (rivets the size of tennis balls) etc. 2) I like getting models from as few suppliers as possible. Not all "28mm" models are 1:56; not everyone's 1:56 is the same. Getting stuff from one place is good, in my opinion. 3) I am already getting tanks from this KickStarter, so it makes sense to pay the small incremental of getting the Pz 35(t) at the same time. This KS has tiers where the price per tank goes down, so moving up a tier isn't so expensive since all the other tanks go down in price (more tanks, less £/tank). 4) This is a UK based "start up" company producing good models, and an unusual choice of subject (Hungary). I want to support it for all three reasons. I like supporting UK manufactures. I like to support people who are just starting to get going (the "little fish in a big pond"). I like to support people who are doing something a bit different: anyone can release a Pz II, a Toldi light tank is innovative IMO. YMMV, and f course it is totally up to you whether or not you are interested in this KickStarter :-) |

@Lou – you are right about the Romanians – I temporary forgot :-) The gun-portee 25mm AT on the Renault UEs sound really fun – I saw pictures of one, and it is a prime reason why I am pledging for the UE. I can't say I am likely to build an early war French force – but I do like the idea of an early tracked gun carrying conversion. The Germans also used it to carry their 37mmm AT gun and many other uses. I am rather fond of the rather under-gunned, under protected, and sometimes heath-robinson, vehicles produced inter-war or early war :-) (not that I am saying Renault are heath-robinson ;-). |

I understand what you are saying but I thought you were only interested in getting a Panzer 35(t) so that is why I mentioned it. Now addressing some of your other points you are correct in that not all manufacturers do things the sane way. Not having seen any of these in person other than the photos on the kickstarter page and the fact that all that is being shown for this particular vehicle is a photo of the real thing during the war to me it is difficult to say whether the rivets are going to be the right size or tennis balls. I do like the idea that they are coming out with vehicles that no one has come out with such as Hungarian vehicles and yes it is nice of you to support a new company. Now personally I am not a fan of kickstarters. For me if a company has something I want and no one else makes it then I will purchase it. Just don't expect me to back something that there might be a risk involved and I have no problem of mixing vehicles from different companies. I do hope things go well for them and if they do decide to go with direct sales then I will purchase some. |

@Disco Joe – Thanks for your considered response :-) You are very right, KickStarters are not for everyone. I am glad you have thought it through and come up with the decision that is right for you – nothing worse than getting frustrated whilst waiting for the product to ship. Personally, I am happy to take the risk and possibilities of delays. I like being part of projects and hearing how it is done and seeing it progressing. I am also willing to put in some funds to help make it happen. This in itself is of value to me. I agree that the proof is in the pudding when it comes to the models themselves. We'll see. Based on previous work and what I've seen on the KickStarter I am very hopeful. Hopeful enough to have pledged for about 20 of them. I am actually backing for the Hungarians. I've been wanting a non-German European axis army for some time. Hungary and Italy are my top contenders (I already have a Finnish one; well sort of ;-). But having backed for the Hungarians I am very happy to pick up some Romanians (Czech) and Russians at the same time. I do mix vehicles from different companies (I have to); but sometime there seems to be a 10% difference in size for the same model. Consequently I tend to mix different types of vehicle, but try to avoid it within one particular class. But putting out information about this KickStarter I am hoping that some potential backers will see it and will check it out for themselves (I like to spread the fun). But,for people who are not interested in KickStarters then it gives a heads up about what might be in retail in the future. And I assume that those not interested in crowdfunding or WW2 central European tanks will not be reading the thread in the first place ;-) I might be very wrong about that :-) |

about the risk , Bob Emmerson has taken some risks before this kickstarter to produce some models who were not produced elsewhere ( i think of the Lorraine 38, Laffly W15Tcc, laffly 80, and some artillery ) . I'll take some risks ( i pledged for the renault UE ) but i'm quite happy to see someone who can design and produce rare models . BTW, i'll never put 0,1€/$/£ in a figure kickstarter . |

@Discoe Joe – In some ways you and other non-backers are more important to 'Bob' than we backers are, for you represent the virgin retail market post-kickstarter, from which hopefully Bob will hope to be able to earn his daily crust. So I am sure he would welcome any points you care to make about the vehicles either currently unlocked, still to be unlocked, or even as possible other stretch goals. :o) |
