Does anyone have a good method of making furled sails, its for 28mm ships but not sure the scale matters

Cut a piece of paper towel to size and soak in watered down Elmer's/PVC glue, then Scrunch it up so it looks like a furled sail. Then while still wet tie it to your yard with 6/8 thick threads. For some color add some tea to the glue mix.
