I'm planning on fielding a 15mm Franco-Austrian (2nd Italian War of Independence) scenario. Most of the figures I have are OldGlory15s, but I was considering filling in a few of the gaps from the same company's Rank and File range. I followed a few earlier TMP threads, but only found photos for the Russo-Turkish line. I would like to hear impressions about this range, and possibly any photos – especially the Austrians, French and Prussians. Thanks, Don |

I have a lot of the Crimea British and FPW French. Good servicable basic troops. Limited poses but sizewise you can use side by side with OG15s |

In the past, 19th Century Miniatures (Old Glory 15s) have been very accommodating with sending sample figures from their ranges. I suggest dropping them an email with a request for a sample or two. While I have no Rank & File in my Franco-Austrian War collection, I have filled out gaps with Mirliton. Bersaglieri and cavalry are especially nice. Perhaps, give Lancashire Games a try too? |

Yes, please ask for a sample. I did of their OG 15mm ACW line and got 8 infantry, 1 cavalryman, and a gun which gave me a good indication of the various types and how well I could still paint 15mm with these old eyes of mine (fairly well actually). Jim |

The Mirliton range looks very impressive, especially the cavalry. Thanks for the information. Don |

I agree about rank and. I knew the gent who originally created the line. Played in a lot of games using them with him. Solid troops with limited poses. I own a lot of them. |

I like Rank and File and have a bunch of their figures. Now if only I could find a rules set I like for some of the less played wars these figures represent. |

I'm planning on using a modified version of an ACW ruleset that everyone in my club already knows very well. The modifications were originally designed for the Mexican-American War, but I think they will suit this period very well. |

UPDATE: Since this posting, I've received a few packs of Rank and File in the mail from 19th Century Miniatures in Michigan. Here are my impressions: * about the same height as OldGlory 15s * figures are thinner-bodied than OldGlory15s * horses in Rank and File bags are OldGlory15s horses Poses are definitely limited – in fact, an entire bag of cavalry are all the SAME pose (a definite negative in my playbook). All in all, a good fit on the table. Definitely lower quality than OldGlory15s, but do fill some of the holes in their 19th Century ranges. Don |

I've posted a few comparison photos for anyone who might be interested in the compatibility of Old Glory 15s and Rank & File figures. Rank & File Cavalry and OG15 Infantry link Rank & File Infantry and OG15 Infantry link and link |

I recently received an order from QRF to fill some holes in my Austrian 15mm. The horses and limber riders match up very well with OG15. The limber is a bit on the small size. |
