A photographer , taking pictures for a flying school, thought that he had images of experimental aircraft at Greenham Common in Berkshire. Instead, he had taken pictures of the Millennium Falcon and an X-Wing fighter! Filming of the new Star Wars film is taking place in the UK. Matthew Myatt was filming around the old missile silo. He says it was an 'unbelievable moment'. |

As he was able to escape his overflight of the area unharmed, one can only assume that the air defenses at the studio are handled by stormtroopers. Doug |

If you look closely, those actually look like LEGO toys… |

I love the big red arrow pointing at the M. Falcon, as if nobody might be able to recognize it as an important item in the photo. |

Parzival, if I were to guess I'd say that photo is heavily cropped and scaled, so it was probably much smaller and made the arrows more useful originally |

Yes, I think he took much larger photos of the area, and only later when looking at them said "hey, what's that down there?" Trying to decide if the Falcon is only half built, or done that way to have a right half for external filming, and a cutaway left half for internal filming. |

It's a safe bet that internal filming is all done at a separate set. As to whether it's a half model or halfway-built, it all depends on how much of it they need at that scale. With the entrance and cockpit at that side, they might only need to build half the falcon, but the large scafolding on the left side would indicate that they plan on building the whole darn thing. It's be great if that ended up at the new Lucas Museum, but it'll probably wind up at a DIsney park instead. |
