It is so satisfying to beat Armand to it occasionally. The sun rises earlier this side of the Atlantic of course, which helps. Perrys' work bench shows these three. I thought we might see further additions to the charging chasseurs announced recently, esp as they were clever enough to cast them with separate heads and right arms. The conversion potential is massive. Intrigued to know what spare heads the German lads might feature. I almost wept when I saw the Guard lancers as I spent so long converting the Russian Dragoons in coats into lancers in cloaks. TMP link What we see here is far better animation but different. Mine are set up for a ride on a rainy afternoon between Quatre Bras and Mt St Jean. These lads are much livelier and better wrapped up. Simple head swap for Chassuers of the Guard comes to mind! Are they not just brilliant? Why did I bother?

Very beautifull but they should bring out the Hessian Cheveaux -légèrs in their full dress uniform as well… |

Who wants cavalry labelled as specialized in retreats? |
deadhead | 10 Sep 2014 9:09 a.m. PST |
Not sure I follow. Do you mean wargamers are unlikely to want these as retreats do not appeal? I must say I tended to agree with you when this range first came out, although they are some of the best castings Perrys have ever produced. The response to every new release has been great enthusiasm though and there have been many photos of Retreat from Moscow wargames. Or were you referring to the real thing and saying that specialised cavalry had no role in a retreat? Must say if I had Boney chasing me up the road to Genappe or a bunch of hairy cossacks in the woods waiting for me to stumble, I'd like a bunch of elite lancers out there on the perimeter (or failing that the Life Guards of course!). |

Retreat! Finally I got it…………! As an Irishman, of the left footed persuasion, how could I miss that? This is far too profound anywhere beyond UK and Eire, so apologies to readers beyond our shores! |

For your penance, say two "Our Fathers" and four "Hail Marys"….. |

I have the book "Uniforms of the Retreat from Moscow". It begs the question if different uniforms were required for the advance. That said, great figures. |

and a "Glory Be to the Father" or two was always appended as I recall……….. I suspect uniforms were very different indeed for the advance, in a summer known for its heat and dust. In practice that Blandford book covers the advance on Moscow far more than the retreat. Inevitable…..uniforms and retreat from Moscow makes an oxymoron! |

nice ragged Russian infantry in great coats in the workbench as well. |

I do not have single infantryman in my collection (other than Prussians in a diorama, "The Road to Plancenoit"). I have a single Victrix highlander, who took so long I gave up…. My figures just sit on a shelf and artillery are easy and self limiting (just four figures and a gun is generally accepted as reasonable). Cavalry look great but take for ever……. I have more Imperial Guard cavalry and artillery than every other type all added together! I will soon have more Guard Gendarmes d'Elite than cuirassiers. Daft, I know |
