The Papelotte model seems very different from the version offered by Hovels (price is similar). The farm today is different from what it was like in 1815 so I wonder who has the more accurate version? Any ideas out there?

The earliest photos are labelled as about 1902.
The Wiki says 'The farm was partially burned. It was rebuilt in 1857-1858. It is this time that the tower-shaped gazebo above the front door (was added)'

I have never heard that the Placenoit Church had a wooden tower. And the top of the tower shown by Adkin, p. 128, is also different.

As you say, what we see now is very different from the Church before it was burnt, repaired and much later totally rebuilt. A few pictures of local churches, less influenced by warfare does show the double pitched spire effect, as does Adkin's drawing (often wonder where he found that?)

Modellers agree the spire was different. Artists seem less sure, you may notice. Apologies that I am not acknowledging the sources of these pictures, but they are available on line and I never did record that!

(Now found the source, all recent discussion here and worth exploring;

It is also fun to just visit every village in the area, either on foot or sitting at your PC and using Google Earth or some such, then drop the little yellow man to see the local church. Try Lasne, or Genappe, or Ways, or Ohain etc etc. They all share that same style

What I have seen of these models looks very impressive, even if I might want to alter slightly, personally.

Sarissa Precision Waterloo Papelotte is very nice. I prefer the Hovels version, mainly because I've purchased and painted it :-), but also because it seems to fit the contemporary description. I also like the walled yard that comes with the Hovels model. The 3-D detail and interior detail on the Hovel model is very well done.

Some very nice models. A tad disappointing that the windmill does not include blades or steps though. Those bits seem to really make the model.
