Well why not as the Reaper Bones with their fantasy figures was such a hit why not do the same with the CAV line of miniatures. I will be curious to see if this is as successful.

It will be successful. I just have a feeling it won't be as mind boggling big as the first 2.

It hit its goal easily enough, and should be over $100 USDK by the end of the day. I'm in for a chunk, though I'm just in for the figures, I'll use other rules.

What size/scale is CAV btw?

boy wundyr x09 Sep 2014 2:07 p.m. PST

10-12mm – there are a bunch of threads here that go into this (some products were originally 1/285 apparently).

Here's some more discussion of CAV.
TMP link

As to scale, CAV was originally designed as10mm, N Scale at 1/160. It's currently marketed as N scale, 10mm, 1/180. In real, all but the largerCAV mecha will size up pretty well with Battletech 6mm mecha.

The 1/285 scale mechs designs currently part of the range did not originate with CAV, but were from Talon Games who made them specifically compatible with -and having many similar elements to- Battletech miniatures.

There were also some vehicles (mostly aircraft) that were downsized to make them more affordable and easier to manage on the tabletop.

I wonder if there's actually any chance of them getting to the funding levels for the ground vehicles ; as that's all I'm really interested in…

ordinarybass09 Sep 2014 7:26 p.m. PST

I think there's no doubt that there will be a number of ground vehicles available by the time this closes. The next goal is only a couple thousand away and the two goals following that each have free vehicles and upgrade vehicles.

If this follows the path of the other Reaper Kickstarters, all the core set and bonus add-ons will have individual prices as well so they can be ordered by them selves or to add to your core set. The 8 Core mechs have already had prices listed for adding more, so expect everything to have an add-on price by the end.

Droopy gun barrels, anyone? I'm not sure if PVC is the best material for crisp sci-fi designs.

I do the boil and shock on all my bones to set them back to factory mold. That takes away from any "droopy" guns. You can pledge at the 1 dollar level and then add on just the pieces you want piecemail. awesome if you just want to paints, tanks or aircraft.
