I just spotted this and wanted to share my excitement…I loved the first but I was giving up hope on seeing another… link |

I would certainly go see it…especially as it sounds like it ties in with the comics moreso. |

I'm all for another one. Thought the first one did a good job with the character. |

Remember Panda to say Dredd prequel and not a Judge Dredd prequel. YOU will be having people thinking that Sly is putting on the spandex again. :-) Grimm |

@Grimm You literally sent a icy chill down my spine…perish the thought ;) |

I enjoyed the dredd movie but the Stallone one had a better back drop in terms of the city . |

Dredd 2012 was basically 'Die Hard' in Mega-City One. It's gritty, dark and ultra-violent just the way I like it. The trial by fire of wet-behind-the-ears Judge Anderson (Olivia Thurlby) was also a nice touch. I hope the prequel happens but I'm not holding my breath since the first movie tanked at the box office despite good reviews. It all depends on whether Karl Urban et al. can secure the financing required to make it happen. |

Maybe Karl and Mantic can do a Kickstarter to fund this. :) |

I liked the 2012 version. The Stallone one was just marginal, rating about 1, or 1.5 stars. |

I actually liked the Stallone version--seemed more like the comics to me than the 2012 version. That said, I wouldn't turn down a prequel. Rob |

The biggest problem I saw with the Stallone version was that he took off the helmet. Though doing that wasn't true to the Dredd comic, it was still good. Liked the 2012 one also. At least they are avoiding the Superman/Spiderman "reboots" trap…. |

Whilst I enjoyed Dredd as a film, it shied away from incorporating some of the more futuristic and silly aspects of the Judge Dredd universe. As an example of the futuristic Dredd – city-blocks are actual tower blocks the size of cities. People in them can spend their lives there and never leave. Peach Trees (where is Rowdy Yates block?) is an apartment block with a mall at the bottom. As an example of the silly Dredd – MaMa was supposed to be a grey-haired old lady. This is in keeping with some of the weirder side of Judge Dredd stories. Also telling is that there are references to Chopper and a fatty's belly wheel is seen – but we never see a fatty. I assume this is a nod to fans. Maybe the Judge Dredd background and stories won't work on screen. Maybe the film companies won't chance it. Either way, film Dredd lacks the humour and political commentary that were so prevalent in the comics. So what I'm saying is that Dredd was a good fun action film based on the more violent parts of the comic and I assume any prequel/sequel will be the same. I just can't help wishing for something more. |

I'm guessing the cinema-going public will be a lot more receptive to a storyline featuring the Cursed Earth after the new Mad Max movie comes out next summer. Post-apoc is on the comeback, baby! |

I liked the campy Stallone version, but the 2012 version was a truly excellent carnivale of violence. I hope this one continues in that same vein. Karl Urban could use more exposure as Dredd, though; I felt like the 2012 version had him as a backdrop to the hot-young-chick judge. |

I remember Stallone Judge Dredd uniform in his Restaurant Planet Hollywood at Miami. Took my attention how short he is!. Amicalement Armand |

Definitely preferred the Stallone version. Much more 'Dreddy' and more in keeping with the setting in the comics. the 2012 version was simply a near future gore fest with someone called Judge Dredd in it. Ian |

I cannot help myself… I liked both in their different styles, one more silly and comic style the other more gritty.. I hope more comes up… cheers Francisco |

The Stallone version captured the ironic, British humour of the original comic, but the Urban version captured grim, gritty and ultra-violent of the comic. I could quite easily see Urban's Dredd nuking the Sovs in the Apocalypse War. Regarding a prequel/sequel, Alex Garland always maintained "I think you could do a second film which is all about the city and the law and where it comes from, and Judge Fargo and the pro-democracy terrorists, and Dredd's struggle with the state that he's part of. And then in a third story you could bring in this crazy existential force that attacks the city in the form of the Dark Judges". |
