Surprised this hasn't made the rounds here (or if it has, I missed it).

Speculation is GW is about to announce an updated release of Space Hulk tabletop. Supposedly will be same models as the 2009 3rd edition but with new missions and new shipboard tiles.

Friday we'll all know if this was just another rumor.

No new models equals no purchase from me.

Yawn…

They swore the 2009 edition was "limited edition" but they lied.
Not that I have a problem with that. I HATE limited editions.

I had one of the previous editions, and it was fun. I hated painting those stupid Terminators, but other than that it was OK.
Had to sell it for food.

Mithmee08 Sep 2014 9:03 p.m. PST

Hmm, so for how much?

$200 USD or will it be more?

Mithmee08 Sep 2014 9:04 p.m. PST

Oh and I still have my 1989 version.

Privateer4hire08 Sep 2014 9:13 p.m. PST

Supposedly $125 USD is the MSRP.

parrskool09 Sep 2014 2:14 a.m. PST

I still have version 1 and 2….. did it get any better?

Aliosborne09 Sep 2014 2:28 a.m. PST

Rumours are its going to be £75.00 GBP GBP (was £60.00 GBP before)

same as last time but they are adding 4 new missions some new counters, a new room and boarding torpedoes

I have the last ltd so wont buy this one as nothing too much newer (still play it and love it

Also only an Engish version no foreign language versions, not sure how many they are producing this time

I still have the tiles from the 1989 version (and doors, bulkheads and other counters).

The stealers got donated to my club's copy of the "limited edition 3rd" (one of the guys bought it for the models, and gave us the board sections and counters.

It gets used to help some of the kids with learning disabilities (for some reason they can do the basic maths easier if they have something else to focus on?)

"I still have version 1 and 2….. did it get any better?"

The models were much, MUCH better. The game was pretty much the same, which is to say it's still great. I never bought the original so the last "limited edition" release was a welcome treat, and it's been played a good bit since I got it.

Best GW board game ever. I might actually splurge and get it this time. This way I'll have copy of all 5 versions.

1st ed.) Terminator actions had to be completed within a thirty second window. Flame throwers would torch an entire room/hallway. Had rules for multiple levels. Had special squad units. Generally praised as the best rules edition.

2nd ed.) No timer. No levels. No special units. Flamethrower limited to 12 squares in one load, but theses could be laid out in a chain, and used up over several turns. Gorgeous tile art.

I know nothing in particular about 3rd ed.

Bought two copies of the 2009 version for £60.00 GBP, sold them 18 months later for £125.00 GBP each. That was a pretty good return on my investment I think :)

Have the first editions and expansions …great game

Bryan Stroup09 Sep 2014 10:20 a.m. PST

It's possible the new release will be a Deathwing variant. If so, it will be just enough different that I'll be buying. Especially if the marines are in the same quality as the blood angels from last edition. If they expand the psycher rules a bit and add in some of the other good stuff from 1st edition, this will be an easy decision.

evilcartoonist09 Sep 2014 12:10 p.m. PST

Sounds like preordering begins Saturday at GW's website.

seldonH09 Sep 2014 9:03 p.m. PST

did you see the blurb below the teaser trailer :
"Be here on Saturday 13th to discover the latest threat to the Imperium."

"latest threat", when we are talking about a 4th edition :) , unless the latest threat to the "imperium" is the dwindling sales ;)

Always good when they bring good products back… much better than those 100 dollar undeads !

PapaSync10 Sep 2014 5:08 a.m. PST

This is SPACE HULK.

The new White Dwarf for this (next?) week will feature 2 new missions and pictures of the new room and the boarding torpedo tile.
It kinda makes me wonder if they've done that so anyone with 3rd edition can print them off and not be losing out on anything ~ Except the 4 new missions, unless the 2 missions in WD are 2 of the new missions, in which case you'd only need to track down the other 2. And I would imagine they could be included in some kind of future release of a "campaign / missions" book as they have done in the past?

seldonH10 Sep 2014 1:50 p.m. PST

Remember back when new missions and tiles would come up in the WD… that was actually pretty good…

I hope you are right, it would be nice to be able to get new tiles/missions without buying the whole new set… let's hope

Mithmee10 Sep 2014 2:05 p.m. PST

Seldon,

You need to stop thinking about when White Dwarf and GW were actually good things.

They have not been good for nearly 15 years now.

AndSomeDoug10 Sep 2014 4:39 p.m. PST

I recently found a bunch of old WD "extras" from various games, including one of the old cardboard 40K Bunkers, Space Hulk tiles and unpunched Necromunda scenery ~ I need to spend an afternoon with my scanner ;) :D

seldonH11 Sep 2014 6:45 a.m. PST

one of my most carefully guarded treasures is my WD collection that goes from just a bit before WD 90 up to about WD 280 or so, when I stopped "collecting" and only bought when something interesting came up… and every year I bought less… :)

I still hold respect for GW due to that great past :) but of course I no longer game WFB or WH40K …

Those early WD were fantastic…
