Dear List

I hope you guys check out AC Moore regularly. They carry a line of stuff called "TOOB" which are tubes about 1 1/2 by 1 1/2 by 10 inches in clear plastic stuffed with figures of various sorts. There is no real scale here, but the figures can be of ancient Egyptian Gods and Statuary, farm animals, farm workers, cowboys, pirates sea animals dinosaurs, buildings and so forth the variety is huge. I've picked up dozens of them for various terrain features and game pieces and it's always fun to go and browse. Don't pass these up. The soldiers are always large and "toy like" but if you hit the right one it can be extremely useful. Famous monuments and small trains, cars, dozens of kinds of stuff.

See them all the time at Michael's and Hobby Lobby. Oftentimes, Hobby Lobby has them on "clearance" sale…

The "Horses" tube toys are almost perfect for 28mm… they make excellent ambience for medieval through old west towns…

I did an article about them a while back. You are right. Some of the ones that are not quite right are still useful and acceptable, given the circumstances.

Rowr!

I have three red pandas … er … WAR PANDAS!, now. One of DOM's friends uses them as surrogate pieces for pretty much every game she plays now on game day.

I used the toob dragon heads on my viking ships.
