I bought a bunch of Tai Pings and Miao from Irregular and have now painted nearly all of them. There are some unit photos on the Irregular site here irregularminiatures.co.uk I painted the Miao as both black and white Miao its the white ones in the photo. The flags are by TVAG. My question is how many folks are doing the Tai Ping wars or are interested in the same? |

In answer to your question, yes, for a number of years now. Cheers, |

Nice work! It's also good to see that there is some variety in head coverings by pose – judging by Irregular's pictures, one might have thought that the Miao spearmen wore one type of turban, and the musketeers another. By the way, are the spearmen's left hands behind or in front of their waists (I can't be bothered to go and find the pictures)? If they are in front, then conversions to shielded swordsmen shouldn't be too difficult, although behind would be problematic. |

Like the pictures. Thanks. I've been working on 1860's China for a while. I did a load of stuff last year & built British & Imp armies (see Wargaming for Grownups: link but you'll need to filter by labels, – the China label brings up pictures of my holiday in China and the terracotta warriors as well as the Chinese figures and games). I really want to do the Taiping Rebellion, so Ian's figures will be featuring in my shopping bag at Derby. I wrote a set of rules called "Taiping Era" for 15mm games. They were published in Nugget. If there's enough demand I could put them up on the blog. |

The Miao spearmens hands are in front of their waists so conversion would be easy. I've been reading your blog Trebian nice stuff. It would be good to see the various rules you guys are using and indeed anything else TP you think interesting. I'm using Piquet Field of Battle with a couple of tweaks in the card deck. It gives an exciting game. |

@OB: In case you were wondering, I did see your pictures, but that was this morning, yet did not post until around noontime, when I did not go back to find them. |

No worries Skeptic. I'm hoping to get the first game of my China Campaign tomorrow. A small game with four units a side Miao V Imperials. The Miao will have two units of spears and two muskets (longe range but slow loading) and the Imps one of local militia, one of Tartar cavalry and two units of Manchu foot. The local militia all have melee weapons as do half of the Manchu. The others have matchlocks. The Tartars have bows and lances. The ground will be hilly and the rules FOB. I'm interested to see how it turns out. |

Picked up my Taiping armies at Derby. They are excellent figures. Some of Ian's best. Has anyone posted any other pictures of them painted other than those on the Irregular website? |

Yeah they are pretty good. |

Agreed they're good. As I said any more pictures of your work on them on-line? |

Not yet Trebian but as soon as the light's good I will take some more and send them to Ian. I'll link them here too. Din of Battle blog does have some nice TP pics 25/28mm though. I cannot think of any others. |
