Yes, a good show – pity I forgot to take my torch!

It was dark, I thought it was just me.

No it was dark.

After the Partizan in the Park (glamping experience) earlier in the year, it was back to more dismal than before in the venue.

I have noticed that the big bright lights that used to be in the venue have been replaced with "energy efficient" lighting provision. I am sorry to say that a trade event needs lighting to see the product, and I wonder if I need to bring my miners lamp to the next show.

The musician in the dining room was not bad (but would not be everyones cup of tea).

Sadly the venue have squeezed the show again, with the installation of a stage that means a small part of the venue cannot be accessed. I am beginning to think that the show is not wanted anymore by the venue, since they seem to do more to undermine it with every passing month.

In spite of the venue, I was very impressed with the organisers hard work to make something very good out of what seems now to be a totally unsuitable venue.

It was pretty dark in there, and with the multiple room layout it was a pretty tight squeeze, although thankfully the clientel were of a more sensible nature and had both washed and left their assualt backpacks behind.

I did have the odd experience of hearing a bloke with a Naruto headband thing calling the woman at Caliver books "a bitch", which was a new one on me for a Wargames show.

I share Maddaz's view, it feels like it is being squeezed out. I'd not connected it with different bulbs but the lighting was worse than ever in venue notorious for it being poor to start with. It reminded me of downstairs at the Merchant Adventurers Hall in York before that show moved to the Racecourse (and doubled in size as a result).

I didn't find the lighting too bad, but was in the main hall most of the time.

I gather that the stage was a temporary irritant, unexpectedly left over from a wedding the day before. Hopefully it will not return to trouble future events…

Much preferred the marquee experience. The catering was an improvement on previous efforts indoors, shame most of it had run out when we got round to joining the queue though. I think it needs a roomier venue though, my OH came this time and complained of being taken out by several people toting rucksacks who need rear view mirrors or some warning system that alerts people next to them when they are going to swing round. It's always a job squeezing round until mid afternoon when the ravening horde thins out, but room for maneuovre around the games and stands in the rotunda was seriously short I thought.

The trouble with the tents (which I loved BTW) is the British weather; 24 hours of rain would make unloading impossible. They aren't a cheap solution, either, would push costs up.
