Ok painted some figures for my very first customer and I would like opinions on how much to charge. I'm thinking £3.50 GBP for the foot figures and £7.00 GBP for the mounted figure. What do you think? [URL=http://s1301.photobucket.com/user/Jeffrey965/media/Commissions/KH5_zps82c9b721.jpg.html]

That prices sounds about right perhaps a little bit more. They look very well done. |

I agree that does sound right. Good job on them. |

Shouldn't a price been established prior to the painting commission? Having said that, I think your prices are about right. Very fine paint job! |

Thanks for the prompt replies guys, Cyrus the customer was happy with the price which we agreed before we started, but I've never done this before so was looking for some feedback from other people. You can get so close to figures when your painting them it seems to me that you may think you've done a better job than you actually have, so it's nice to get other peoples opinions. At the moment I think I have the balance about right. |

Actually the biggest question here is how long did it take you to paint them? I think you should be closer to £4.00 GBP to £4.50 GBP for the foot and £9.00 GBP to £9.50 GBP for the mounted. |

I think that your quality work merits a higher price. Maybe you can check out the websites of various commercial painters and see how your work and prices compare. |

Increase your price for the next customer. I think with these photos as examples he will also be happy with his higher price. |

I agree with a BHR and chicklewis, the quality of your brush work merits more than you are currently charging. I'd increase by a pound or a pound and a half. |

Thank you all for the very kind comments. The prices reflect the fact that the figures are not based and I also only want commissions of about 12-24 figures at a time. This is just a way of funding my hobby since I took early retirement, I'm not looking at starting a new business lol. And also these figures are quite straight forward in their colour schemes with not to much small detail. I just painted 30 Perrys Napoleonic Black Watch and I would price a figure with that detail possibly 50% higher. If only to put people off asking me to do them lol. Cheers now Jeff |

I've seen lesser 20mm figures being sold for £5.00 GBP each . |

I've always admired this style of painting. I pay $8.50 USD for 28mm infantry figs. painted nicely in a different style. Based on that I would say 6 pounds sterling would not be out of line for infantry. Maybe 9.50 sterling for cavalry. Very nice work! Pat |
