Hello I have bought The Last Days of the First Empire: Napoleon's 1814 Campaign scenario book for the Fate of Battle: Look Sarge, No Charts: Napoleonic Wars rules. I cannot see any indication as to the scale of the maps. Is anyone able to tell me what one foot on the tabletop is equivalent on the actual battlefield? I find it more than a bit annoying when scenario books are advertised as being useful for other rule systems, but then don't specify the ground scale. Thank you |

Yes, one of my pet peeves. You can find a distance on the map – say Pleasantville to the junction – and do the maths, but really, PUT THE SCALE ON THE DAMNED MAP! |

That's what I have done with other scenario books, but my level of confidence in the results has varied, hence my query above. |

Go to Google maps and find landmarks and measure. Ridge lines, often roads and rivers will give you the landmarks you need. I can't think of a simpler way, particularly when wargame scenario maps far too often skew distances for a variety of game reasons. I've run into that issue more times than I want to remember. It also can be why a ground scale isn't given. |

Dave Wood is out running a marathon today, but he'll post an answer in the next 24 hours. |

Thank you. I don't think that I've ever seen a wargamer who looked fit enough to run a marathon. Regards |

Sorry, both for the delay (I may run, but I'm slow) and for not including the ground scale in the maps. The maps have the ground scale used by Fate of Battle (1 inch = 50 yards). Sorry for not including an obvious need for other rule systems. |

Thank you. That is very helpful. |
