Well we said that they would be ready by the first week of Sept and we like to keep our word so with little more to do Brigade models are very pleased to present to you the first photo of some of their mercenaries range. All going well the Sohei (MBT) and the Magnus (APC) will be in the store by this Friday followed early the next week by the Wizard (hover jeep), Ontos (multi barrelled tank destroyer) and Mantra (combat car) the others in the range will follow shortly after those as we did not want to over do it and excite any of you who may have a weak heart or bladders or suffer from any nervous dispositions. ;) Below is a quick snap that Tony sent me earlier on this evening and we hope to bring you a few better detailed photo before the models go on sale later this week… Thanks Zac & Kirk

Sweet! I'm loving the mid-tech aesthetic of these! I hadn't seen the Ontos before, either, but I think it looks exactly the part. The Battle of Hue 2068 is right around the corner. |

I must say that im really pleased with this working photo of some of the Brigades merc's range, even this quickie shows off these fine looking designs and the high quality of their casting really well. Kirk and I both agree that the Sohei looks absolutely bad ass now we have seen it painted up, and don't even get me started on the cute little Wizard hover jeep 'aint it just to die for'… :) Zac |

Any chance that APC has a hatch plate that can be dropped into the top opening? It also begs for different "plug-ins" like ACAV (please!), and as many variants as the M113. |
AVAMANGO | 04 Sep 2014 3:13 a.m. PST |
JT what are the chances that Ainsty Castings will produce some Hiroseki national army decals?
Any chance that APC has a hatch plate that can be dropped into the top opening? It also begs for different "plug-ins" like ACAV (please!), and as many variants as the M113. That was an early idea that we did think about, i also thought that with a twin top door hatch it would make a good mortar carrier, i will remind the guys at Brigade towers about it. Remember that the Mantra combat car should be in production by next week and that vehicle also has a multi functional role and by simply leaving off its roof rack you could easily have another maybe lighter, faster RAM mortar carrier just a thought… :) Zac |

Zac Decals – let me have a chat with Andy at Ainsty. John EDIT. he said yes (the wonders of text). I shall speak to him further ASAP. Japanese numbers and various logos then :) |

We are really chuffed to pieces that the new mercenary range comes up to scratch and meats with your approval gents, they were fun to do and we feel that we achieved a good balance between gaming and show case pieces and there should be at least one vehicle that some of you will want to buy and enjoy from the range, thanks for all your support over the past few months and we appreciate all the kind words. Finally, the manufactorum gearing up production …
The Magnus and Sohei should be available to buy from the website tomorrow (Friday), with more vehicles early next week. Keep an eye on the blog for the latest … blog.brigademodels.co.uk Well done to Zac and Kirk for their hard work and design skills on these vehicles. |

Ahhhh Tony you beat me to it… ok direct photos and text from the Brigade blog and seeing for the first time the Sohei MBT weapon variants. The Sohei hover tank provides the Brigade with heavy firepower through one of four different main gun options -heavy laser, gatling, Discarding Sabot cannon or twin powergun. This is supplemented by a six-pod Manta missile rack and a remote weapon mount on the turret roof.
The Brigade's infantry complement ride in Magnus APCs. These are a ‘battle-taxi' type, with two remote weapon mounts for self defence but no heavier armament.

Can someone anwer, what's the shading medium used on those models? My guess would be Army Painter Inks. Am I right? John T |
Tony Francis | 05 Sep 2014 11:23 a.m. PST |
PSC spray for the basecoat, Army Painter strong tone (from the tin) for the shading. |

Javelin – they also had a drybrush, but that's it – primer, basecoat, drybrush, pick out a few details, wash, decals, flat varnish, done. |

Distantly? Oh no, that never sounds good.I'm not getting any younger. |
AVAMANGO | 09 Sep 2014 11:59 a.m. PST |
Now this is the first time i have seen these three mercenary vehicles painted up, i think that Brigade models have done a excellent job casting them i think they should blend in with most other sci-fi vehicle ranges. Great stuff Tony they really look the bomb… Zac

Very sweet: You're gonna need crew for that combat car… Distantly? Oh no, that never sounds good. I'm not getting any younger. Well in the mean time you could always use some of Armies Army kneeling heavy weapons crews and they have several head gear options to. Let no one dispute my masculinity here…. But that hover jeep is just plain cute. Yup I have to agree and I did point this out in a earlier post, I was so pleased when I saw the first cast Wizard out of the mold, it's such a versatile little vehicle in game from officer staff car or field ambulance to advanced reconnaissance / scouting vehicle or a high mobility light support weapon platform or just a simple patrol vehicle… |
wminsing | 09 Sep 2014 6:30 p.m. PST |
So what's the intended role of the 'Combat Car'? Is it recon or something else? -Will |
AVAMANGO | 09 Sep 2014 11:10 p.m. PST |
So what's the intended role of the 'Combat Car'? Is it recon or something else?-Will Well it is another one of those multi functional designs which can do any number of roles or duties, it is meant to be a medium weight vehicle with a reasonable speed however it is relatively light on the armour, personally i see it more as a light to medium fast strike cavalry type of vehicle, another role that i will personally be useing it for will be as a fast mortar carrier which can prove to be quite devastating in a game but use it however you see fit to do so. :) zac |
John Treadaway | 09 Sep 2014 11:25 p.m. PST |
Combat cars: Well if it's good enough for the Slammers then it's good enough for everyone! In combat, think of them as an SF version of the current UK armed forces Jackle or a 'Nam period ACAV: aggressive recon and domination of the battlefield via lots of automatic weapons. John T |
Kirk Alderfer | 11 Sep 2014 7:48 p.m. PST |
Let no one dispute my masculinity here…. But that hover jeep is just plain cute. It is based on the French VBL. I am hoping it will be available as designed with the removable top. Hey Tony, stowage ? |
Tony Francis | 12 Sep 2014 6:36 a.m. PST |
I am hoping it will be available as designed with the removable top. Yep, the hard top is a separate metal piece. Hey Tony, stowage ? The tools ? They'll be going into a separate pack of new stowage items. |
