Suppose I sell something privately. I take the money into my PP account and send the customer the goods. What's to stop an unethical customer from saying a month later that he never got anything (even though he did) and PP sucking the money out of my account ? This is a one-time thing, not like I have any history of accepting payments through PP – I am usually the source of payment. There must be an answer to this or the system wouldn't work – but please advise. |

When you mail the item, be sure to pay for tracking and delivery confirmation. PayPal may accept them as proof of delivery. |

PayPal make it clear that you are expected to use a tracked and signed for delivery method. I have sold loads of things through EBay, received payments via PayPal and (so far) have never had a problem. If I sell something for local pick up, I get a signature from the buyer when they collect it. Perhaps " unethical buyers" are quite thin on the ground? |

Agreed…the only times I had a problem I had the delivery confirmation. Paypal found in my favor. That happened twice in 15 or so years I think. Purchased some Chronpia off Ebay once. Never got a delivery confirmation and they never arrived. Guy said he shipped it. Could not show it. Paypal gave me a refund. Always get delivery confirmation! I sent a package to a fellow 6mm scifi fan in TN as a gift. Didn't think I needed any paperwork. A mail truck flipped over and burned down on it's way to him. I had no record so the USPS would not help me. |

Paypal makes judgment calls on this kind of thing. Usually involves tracking numbers and a series of emails. They will put a hold on the funds till the dispute is done. That part annoys me. People are quick to issue a claim but take forever to close it. |
